Secrets come out
Separated by the truth
Withheld information
A lie, you say
But was it your right to know?

You don't have a say in what I do with my body
I may have been carrying a little piece of you inside
But, in that most vulnerable of times,
You weren't there

I harbor no resentment,
It's just a simple fact
And I sought comfort in the crook of someone else's arm instead

I never tried to replace you as his daddy,
I accepted the badge of single motherhood
There were times when I got lonely,
But the encounters were always kept at a distance

Now I am with you
Body and soul
But back then,
When I needed you the most,
You weren't there
