Heaven's gifts
Could heaven's beauty bring as sweet
a fruit fell magic at our feet
the glossy rose and gold divine
that brings remembrance love to mind

A pleasure saved on tongues insist
of palates tracing flavored bliss
to relish natures offer pure
in fondness of our eyes allure

Received by Adam, deceiving Eve
among debris of autumn's leaves
with dancing winds the fall may bring
the noblest fare the world has seen

What greater promise brought is this
than fallen angels dropped as gifts
bestowed by heaven low to me
the choicest nectar wrought from trees
