A flash fiction based on a prompt. If you like it then I could put it into a bigger story.
He stared into the abyss, the void which was once occupied by a planet. HIS Planet. He glanced at his right hand, observing the smooth silvery blood vessels merging into his arm. Was this what it felt like to be a god? To literally have the power of creation and destruction in the palm of his hand? He wanted to sweat, to feel pain, anguish, fear, sadness, anything…all he felt within was blackness. Outside and inside. He glanced sideways at his companion, a small artificial intelligence sent by the Originators. No sound could be heard in the void, but as he opened his mouth he could hear his own voice perfectly.
“ We never expected..”
“ We know.” Strange, but despite his lack of emotion, he found comfort in hearing the AI’s voice inside his head. Probably the alleviation of having a sentient being with him.
“What now?”
“The future. The power of creation and destruction of the next world is now in your hands. The Originators are preparing to initiate you.”
As if on cue, a ball of light emerged out of the blackness, growing in size until it was big enough for him to fit in.
“A gateway”, echoed the AI in his mind, “ The Originators no longer thrive in this plane. Enter. I will follow.”
He glanced at his hand, blood still glowing with silver. He swallowed. Taking a final glance at the space where the Earth used to be, he stepped into the ball of light.
The last thing he heard was a deep voice. “Welcome.”
