Planting Seeds

Lies magic in that red-head lad
On dropping seeds, to seem quite sad
Flowers in spring, what could be bad?
Planting the land, his launching pad
Licking the sticky off his hands,
Imagine this June's garden grand!

Shimmering sunlight cuts through clouds,
Childish shrieking, timeless, unbowed
Moment of quiet, broken, loud
Memories mind has yet to shroud
Garden fountain, has time forgot?
Simple measures, hoe up the plot

Instant's reflection, back in time
Precious kisses, abundant wine
Drinking thirsty fountain sublime
Never ending supply of rhyme
Breathe in nectar, pretend it lasts
All too soon, blow wind's torrents past

Remember years, gardens and beach
Nothing ventured, too far to reach
Grab from the tree one juicy peach
Worms, fish with hooks taken to leech
A life well lived starts with that seed
Mom's hug and smile is all he needs

Each stanza contains 6 lines with 8 syllables per line. The rhyme scheme is aaaabb, ccccdd, etc.

This poem is dedicated to my grandson, Sam.
