A man has a decision to make.
Today began like any other,
it started without surprise.
The duvet cover looked like a tent,
there was desire in my eyes.

I moved in close, romantically,
but heard my wife’s reminder.
“You’ve got to go to the dentist today,”
and the tent went limp behind her.

I reflected upon the irony
as she whispered her cruel analogy.
"You’ll be the dribbling monstrosity,
not me,” she said, sardonically.

A little later I was laid out flat,
my mouth was open wide.
I saw the dentist above me,
he put his tool inside.

I gargled, coughed and spluttered
as he rubbed on teeth and gum.
Something trickled down my cheek
as he worked on my amalgam.

In and out he drilled me,
then said, "I need more suction."
I was an unwilling partner
in this orally induction.

Finally he'd finished,
he'd given me a filling.
My mouth was full of fluid
which I found rather chilling.

So now I had a question,
the answer I didn't know.
I closed my eyes and pondered,
should I spit or swallow?
