Rhyming version of a dark fate.
I feed their emptiness with my fears.
It's drained me badly over the years,
My heart and soul, torn asunder,
Resonate with the rumbles of thunder

A tempest roars. A welcome relief.
A respite from others, however brief-
I stretch out a hand and look inside.
I see that there is nothing to hide

It's empty, I know. I gave it all.
I am no more but they have the gall
To grasp at nothing and pull me in
An abyss of sorts with their vulture kin

They want me now. They shriek at me
The hunger inside a piercing plea
They must be fed. And only I
Am left and with what that implies

I rise again, my body weak, my will
Yet guiding me onward still
I muster strength. I take a breath
To last me till another death.
