Learning to trust the unknown
Slowly
I’m learning to
lean into darkness.

Still now,
I fear its enclosure.

I cling to the known.

However,
my breath draws sharp,
and I know I am not enough.

I pause
and look into the deep,
and I see what I require.

So I peel off a little more of me
and I venture into the dark
to claim my prize.

And each time,
a little less of me comes back.
And a little more blackness,
clings to my skin.

Slowly,
I’m learning to
lean into darkness.
