Sleepless Nights
It's nights like this where I am left with only my thoughts to be alive.

Everyone is asleep.

All is silent and there is nothing more to do.

Within that, comes out wonderful stories from a clear and vivid imagination.

But also come the nightmares and horrors in the depths of our minds.

Our most hated fears come out to play and they aren't leaving until they get what they want.

Childish nightmares of monsters and people come alive within this time.

They leave us sleepless for hours or even days.

That is when their job is done.

Dreams come and go of the sweet and soft.

But the lingering thought that remains of the horrors is scarily too vivid.

At 1 A.M. you find yourself writing poetry because that's the only thing that comes to your mind.

Trying to calm yourself from the reality of if you fall asleep.

Not wanting to deal with the terrors of the night.

Only hoping that when you do sleep that you see the sweet and soft.

Coffee keeps you awake but not long enough.

You finally fall asleep, but the monsters and horrors come back.

Keeping you from again another sleep.
