Please fight.
Staring at your little hands
Wandering what I want you to know
What I want you to see,
What one day I might show

To your bright emerald eyes
Shielded by long black lashes
The great things you might do
All the trophies and sashes

All the hearts you will touch
All the words you will say
You might only be tiny
But you’ll be huge one day

So what do you say
To a tiny little being
Who will one day be Prime Minister
But is yet only teething.

Remember, my daughter
That the sun will return
And freckle your little arms,
Be careful not to burn.

Remember, my dear
The rain is for dancing
Puddles are for jumping
And meadows are for prancing.

Remember, sweet baby
Your life is your own
Your life is your stage
For you to perform when your grown.

Remember, little one
That your voice is so loud
Make people hear it,
Make your opinions profound.

Shake what people know,
Be stronger, be right
Listen, understand
Don’t be afraid to fight

For what you believe.
Kneel when others stand
Empathy is not weakness
Take the underdogs hand.

And be free.
Smell the flowers, watch the bee
Wear loose dresses,
Watch and see

The world that you grow in.
You might just like
What you see, little girl
With you, I will fight.
