The first encounter.
Three Months Ago...

Evolette was rushing throughout her home, desperately trying to throw herself together for work. She had slept through her alarm and was now dangerously close to being late if she didn't leave in the next five minutes.

"Damn it. Damn it, damn it, DAMN IT!" she swore at herself.

"I knew I should've put the stupid book down! But noooo. Oh, I'll just read one more chapter before bed. It'll be fine! HA! Yeah right! Biggest lie on the freaking planet! Nobody ever stops after just one chapter! UGH! Why do I do this to myself?!" she ranted at herself while pulling her shoes on.

"I'll have to put my make-up on in the bathroom at work. Hopefully I don't have bed head and can just get away with leaving my hair down. I don't have enough time to style it." she mumbled to herself as she walked into the bathroom, checking her outfit as she went.

Satisfied that her clothes were fine, Evolette looked up to check her hair in the mirror to see if she could get away with simply brushing it out. That's when she saw him for the first time. Evolette froze. She had caught sight of a man from the corner of her eye, watching her in the mirror. Evolette turned to look at the man's reflection to make sure she was seeing what she thought she was seeing. As her mind finally processed that there was indeed a man standing in the corner of the bathroom, staring at her, she whipped around and screamed, throwing her hair brush at where the man should have been. But there was nothing there. The hair brush hit the wall with a thud and clattered to the floor. Evolette gasped and began looking around the bathroom.

"What. The. Fuck." Evolette said to herself.

"I know I saw someone standing right over there. There's no way in hell he could've made it all the way across the bathroom and right past me in the time it took me to turn!" she yelled.

Evolette looked back at the mirror, but there was nothing there. She looked back at the corner where her hair brush now lay, the only thing occupying the space. Evolette sighed with relief.

"I'm seeing things. It's the stress from staying up too late and rushing this morniii... OH SHIT! That's right! I'm late!" Evolette yelled as she quickly grabbed her make-up and dashed toward the door, tossing everything into her purse on the way out. Evolette ran to her car, completely forgetting all about the man she had seen in her bathroom mirror. The man whose reflection was now staring at her from her front window.

Gavriel sighed to himself as he watched Evolette rush off to work.

"Well that could've gone better... I didn't mean to scare her like that." he said, raking his hand through his hair in frustration.

"I just wanted her to finally see me..." he said, sadly.

Gavriel longingly stared off into the direction Evolette had driven for a moment longer before turning around and walking back toward the bathroom.

"I guess I'll try again tomorrow." he mumbled to himself as his reflection disappeared.

Evolette returned home that evening, completely worn out, and flopped herself down on her couch. She had barely made it into work on time, and her boss had caught her and made a point to show her his watch from across the room while tapping the face. She then spent the rest of the day buried in her work so as to not draw anymore attention to herself. The stress from almost being late and trying to stay busy so her boss wouldn't yell at her had completely zapped her energy.

"I didn't even put my make-up on after I got in to work." she said, staring up at the ceiling.

"Whatever. I don't even feel like eating dinner. I think it's time to call it a night after the day that I had." she grumbled to herself.

Evolette reluctantly pulled herself up from the couch and trudged her way down the hall to her room. She changed into her pajamas and climbed into bed, snuggling into her pillows.

"Aaahh. Yes. How I've missed you my darling bed. I'm so sorry I had to leave you in a rush this morning, but I am 110% prepared to spend aaallll night with you tonight my love." she cooed into her bed.

"Mmmm. You feel soo good." she sighed, smiling to herself.

Evolette quickly slipped off to sleep, as the exhaustion from the day took hold, and never even noticed the reflection of the man in the window.

Gavriel blushed profusely as he heard Evolette talk seductively to her bed as though it were a lover. This wasn't the first time he had heard her talk to her bed this way, but it still made him blush every time he heard it. He couldn't help but imagine she was talking to him that way and that she was snuggling into his arms instead.

Tomorrow. he thought. Tomorrow I'll try again.

Gavriel stared at Evolette's sleeping form for a moment longer before his reflection disappeared from the window.

"Sweet dreams my love." Gavriel whispered.
