Fictitious letter of complaint written for The Art of Letter Writing Contest.
March 29, 2021

To whom it may concern:

I ordered a folding lawn chair on your website. I waited four weeks anticipating its arrival after paying $60 with my credit card. It felt like it took an eternity to arrive at my address.

Upon my package’s arrival, I wasn't at home at the time. I was so excited to see the parcel on my front porch as I pulled into my driveway. My chair had finally arrived. I got out of my car and unlocked the door to go into my house. When I picked the box up, I was surprised by how light it felt, but I didn't think anything of it at the time.

I continued inside my house into the living room with my package. After I sat my purse, keys, and cell phone down to empty my hands of everything but the box, I sat down on the sofa with the package in front of me. I could hardly wait to get into it.

I carefully open the parcel to find nothing but a picture of the above-mentioned chair inside. Imagine my frustration and surprise. I did not pay $60 for a picture of a lawn chair!

I am returning the box I received with the picture still inside, and I will expect to see a full refund on my credit card within an appropriate amount of time. Please check the contents of your packages before you send them out. Thank you in advance for your quick attention to this matter.

Sincerely Annoyed,

Marvelous Friend
