about a bird
A red tailed hawk flew overhead
an arrow cutting through the wind
such was the wonder of this hawk
my heart, did her beauty rend.

Alighting on a tree's sturdy branch
she surveyed me from a distance
all beak and talons, her wings tucked loose
poised to fly off in an instant.

She flew in to visit me
staring with raptor's eye my way
judging me from her lofty vantage
then with fierce scream she flew away.
