Flash Fiction
Dot

Dot looked around. She had eaten enough, something that she always did first, and rarely finished. Actually, she couldn’t remember ever having so much to eat that she could stop and look around before. Being a ladybug involves a lot of eating.

As she sat there she saw a white spot above her. Lots of white spots, like hers! She wondered if she was looking at a bigger bug standing over the garden. It didn’t seem scary, it seemed nice. It wasn’t red like her though, it was blue.

Suddenly she thought it might be fun to talk to that big bug. This was a huge thought for Dot. She had never tried to talk to a bigger bug before. She wasn’t even sure how.

Maybe she could jump up and land on it. She tried, but, it must be higher than it looked. She could try flying up. She had never flown that high before, but up she went.

After a while she started getting very tired, and she still seemed no closer to the giant bug. Finally she decided she had to give up. It was just an idea, plus, she was starting to get hungry again.

Floating back down was fun. She could see so far! She never knew the garden was so big! She was going to tell everybody as soon as she landed!

She landed very close to where she had started going up, and just in time too! She was really hungry! She started eating and eating and eating!

Once she was full, she was tired, and immediately fell asleep. By the time she woke up, she was hungry again, running immediately for food, her adventure forgotten.

The fluffy white clouds in the big blue sky looked down on her, and felt very happy.
