The holidays have come back around
The aroma of cinnamon, the scent of spice
Hover in the air for the holidays have come again
In the oven a turkey with homemade stuffing roasts
While on the counters pies and cookies sit cooling

Long travels over many roads
To destinations both near and far
The warmth and joy of the holidays
Come to drive away the stress and cold

Families gathering together again
First at the table as dinnertime approaches
Then about the family hearth
Swapping stories from years gone by

New additions are introduced
And old traditions lovingly passed on
From one generation to the next
Passed down from those no longer present

With the holiday glitter and gleam
Joy and laughter sparkle and shine
And thus the old year comes to a close
Amidst the falling leaves and snow
