Poem about battling demons of addiction and depression
On the Bridge with Demons

I stood on the bridge
Trembling with silence and fear
From the demons of the darkness
They had driven me there.

They cut my beating heart
Right out of chest
Making me believe
That they know what is best.

They were always there
Lurking just out of sight,
Waiting in the background
Till the time was right.

These demons were destructive,
Knocking down the life I’ve known,
Hating everything about myself
Now all alone I can’t bring myself to love another soul.

These demons don’t want to be seen
But they're far from fairy tales.
For years they lived inside my mind
Their evilness always prevails.

So on the bridge I stood
About to end this fight.
Then I stopped and thought
I will fight them one more night.
