This is an interactive story. Each chapter tells part of the story and often ends with multiple choices. Make a choice and move to the next chapter in your story. When you reach a chapter that hasn't been written yet, don't be shy... make an addition!
The creator of this Interactive Story provides this information and guidance:
(note: the prologue for this story can be found here, which I recommend you read first: https://www.writing.com/main/view_item/item_id/2294036-The-Squishy-Prince--Prolo... )
(I've written a second prologue for the story of sorts: https://www.writing.com/main/view_item/item_id/2308836-Ambrosias-Ambition-SP-Pro... )

One day while looking through the Spectrum Bay Library, Jack and his friends discover several books about a possible past life: the Prince of Spades. The young prince was seemingly very accident-prone, but was left in charge of a large and prosperous kingdom with assistance from his mother. He was a normal boy until he took the throne where he was cursed by a witch with an awful condition that causes his body to become squishy and malleable. Because of his condition, he was given his own personal guard. The young girls, known as the Spectrum Knights, are highly skilled and powerful despite their age, in part due to their mystic weapons. While he's grateful for their protection, the Prince sometimes gets restless and tries to go off on his own for a change. In many of the books, this is what often leads to his downfall...

Characters:

Jack, the Prince of Spades: a curious young boy who's appearance is described to be similar to Jack Harper of the modern times. He's quite the cowardly young monarch, but he still remains faithful to his subjects and tries to be a fair ruler, though he's very likely to bow to pressure if his personal guard is nowhere to be found. Because the law of the Kingdom, he must either turn 16 or take a bride in order to become King, something his mother, the Queen, has been pressuring him to do. With seven years to go until he's of age, he has little choice but to comply. The dangers he must contend with are witches, monsters, thieves, and potential usurpers to his throne, as well as... well, everything and everyone else around him.

Queen Patricia: the mother of the Prince. Having exiled her former husband, she now assists her son in ruling the kingdom, though she can be a bit too hands-on for her son's liking. Despite the kingdom officially being under the Prince's control, much of the Prince's life is still controlled by his mother. She's currently arranging for her son to be married, although her standards are rather high.

Marjorie, the Knight of Hearts: the captain of the Spectrum Knights. Her enchanted sword makes her more than a match for most of the adult knights, which has given her a bit of a cocky attitude, though she's still dedicated to defending her Prince. Despite it being obvious that the Prince has a crush on her, he's been afraid to ask for her hand. In their effort to protect their Prince, she and the other Spectrum Knights have often been the cause of his predicaments themselves.
She owns a white horse named Sweetroll that she spends much of the day caring for.

Lord Gareth: the exiled twin brother of Lady Heart and a bandit lord with an army of monsters at his command. Having stolen a pair of enchanted bracers, the young bandit lord is one of the biggest threats to the kingdom. He's made it clear he doesn't have any sympathy for his sister or the rest of the Spectrum Knights, giving the Prince an ultimatum: surrender his kingdom and pledge his loyalty to the bandits, or watch helplessly as the kingdom is destroyed and become his dinner.

Sir Bradford: a rogue knight banished by the previous King looking to usurp the throne for himself, seeing the Prince as a cowardly weakling who doesn't deserve to rule (well, two of those things aren't false). He's cocky, brash, and knows he's stronger, and looking to challenge the Prince at the first opportunity he can. His wizard companion, Larkin, has an odd manner of speech, believed to be brought on by his constant use of his magic herbs.

Crimson: having been exiled by his wife, the former king has turned to alchemy to try and get his throne back, having transformed himself into a slimy monster. Despite being a slime and not particularly strong, Crimson is still more than a match for his son, and has no problem disposing of him if that's what it takes.

Bethany-
A maid who's served the castle long before the Prince was born, and has long viewed the boy as a weakling, even before he was cursed. Though she continues her work around the castle, she'll look for any opportunity to mess with the Prince and put him in harm's way, feeling the Kingdom deserves better than him. While the Queen and the Prince himself have failed to catch on, her work has not gone unnoticed by conspirators, with whom she's more than happy to assist in getting rid of the little weakling.

Adelina-
A young girl who has only started as a maid in the castle around the time of the Prince being cursed. Seeing what he's able to survive, this young maid sees the Prince as little more than a plaything, often causing accidents that will get the Prince squished. On multiple occasions, she's molded the boy and added him to the cushions for the Queen's seats. While the Prince has often tried to scold her and have her punished, Queen Patricia has always overridden him, stating that she's just a child and doesn't know better, so she always gets away with it.

Amelia Koko: A short woman of minor nobility and the advisor to the throne who was previously loyal to the kingdom for many years. Not content with her current duties, she was hoping to be one of Queen Patricia's first choices to marry her son following the banishment of the King and Prince Jack's ascent, and fulfil her dream of ruling the kingdom herself (the prince would be there, too). She was shocked and angered to discover she wasn't even considered as a potential wife. Refusing to allow her work to be wasted, she conspired with the Luna Witch to bring a curse upon the Prince, with neither he or the Queen none the wiser. She's stubborn, but crafty, and won't rest until she has the Prince, and by extension, the Kingdom, under her control. However, the "curse of extreme thirst" placed on herself to keep her in line with the witch has made things somewhat difficult.

The Luna Witch: a selfish, wicked witch who draws her power from the moon. Having conspired with the royal advisor, she's cursed the young Prince with his awful condition and plans to make life miserable for the boy until the kingdom is handed over to Amelia, who has promised her a position in her court, as well as a full pardon for her past crimes. She claims to be an adult, but her short stature and high-pitched voice makes some mistake her for a child (though, her personality is that of one) and has a very short temper. If the Prince plans on trying to convince her to reverse her spell, it won't be an easy task.

Rules:

1) while I'd like for ending chapters to have some sort of epilogue to show how they'd affect Jack in the present day, they aren't required.

2) try to avoid shorter chapters unless absolutely necessary

3) do not plagiarize other people's writing.

This story takes place in medieval times in the same universe as another of my stories, Surviving Spectrum Bay.
