A poem about truth, kept hidden, under lock and key
Such a small price to pay
for four hours a day
but whose to say
that's the end of my play?

A devastating defeat!
that's what they told me
but the real truth
was under lock and key

But I remain unbothered
still love the children I grandfathered
still love the books I authored
still hate the deal I was offered

They say 'Don't do the crime
If you can't do the time'
But they left out
The more important rhyme

Don't do the crime
if you can't do the time
unless you slip us a dime
then you'll be just fine

But if they left that in
they would be in the bin
so it was the altered version
they sold our kids

So which one is real?

Which one is true?

That isn't up to them.

That's up to me and you.
