There aren't many days like this.
This was a very special day.
It’s one I’ve waited for.
There aren’t many days like this.
I always wish for more.

The sun is out; the sky is blue,
the temperature’s just right.
I grabbed some shades to help my eyes
and save them from the light.

But first I stopped to call my boss
and told him of my plan.
He gave the go-ahead to me,
an understanding man.

The car was washed, the tank was full,
and everything was set.
The weatherman said clear all day.
How lucky could I get?

I climbed on in and turned the key.
The engine sounded great.
It seemed forever and a day,
but it was worth the wait.

I rolled the top down all the way
then locked it into place.
I put the car into first gear
and left my parking space.

Ah, there it was, that awesome breeze
as I picked up some speed.
This is the most fun I could have.
A top-down day indeed.

When one lives in a far north land
that’s mostly cold and gray,
you have to treasure every time
you get a top-down day.
