Poem about losing
The Game

You’re doing well
You’re in the lead
Another goal is
All you need

For a comfortable win
And a move up the table
But the other team
Is more than able

To shatter your hopes
And bring you to tears
That dreaded sound
Opposition cheers

Fill the air
They didn’t deserve that goal
You’re in despair
You watched the ball roll

Over the line
And into the net
A deflection it took
How flukey can you get?

The score is level
You’re feeling bad
You feel you’ve been robbed
Of what you had

And what is more,
Here they come again
They go in front
Like an express train

The whistle blows
The game is done
You have lost
And they have won.

It’s only a game
But you shuffle away
It’s so hard to lose
In this way

But soon you’ll be back
To cheer on your team
You’re always there
Nightmare or dream.
