Not sure which way to go -

For years I've traveled down life's path
With all its twists and turns,
Wondering which way to go from here
As the fever in me burns -

So easy to just lie down
And not continue on;
So easy to forget the smile
When everything goes wrong.

Yet somewhere in my soul
Is a spirit that says "Wait!"
There are things ahead of you
And you must fill your plate!

So up I get, another day,
And try to live the best I can -
Knowing it's not up to me,
It's all in my Father's plan.

I'm tired of the heartbreak -
Of seeing loved ones die;
I'm tired of still trying
When the present makes me cry.

Escape! I long to get away!
From all the tears and strife
That seem to heap upon my heart
And rob me of my life!

I see ahead a meadow
Where the flowers gently sway;
Where the skies are serenely blue
And little children play.

I see ahead a place to rest,
To lay my tired body down;
Yet there is still another road
Just outside of town.

The other road is twisted;
Trees grown tall to block the view,
Yet it looks so inviting
That I turn and travel through.

I cannot see what lies ahead,
I just go on from day to day -
I'm at the crossroads of my life
And Jesus bids me stay.

We have to trust in God above
If we are to make it through;
When at the crossroads we stand
He'll tell us what to do.
