THE STORY OF A PUP BORN ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT.
HALLOWEEN HOUND

He was born on the night that the witches were out and the pumpkins glowed bright on the porch. In the dark of the moon outside on the ground, so they called him the Halloween Hound.

His ears were so long that they drug on the ground and his eyes were so shiny and bright. His howl was so frightful and sounded so lost that the cats in the alley ran away in sheer fright.
The bats flew around the new pup on the ground and cold winds rustled the leaves. The stark dark trees made eerie old sights to the pup on that Halloween night.
But things were so scary that he covered his eyes and he shivered and trembled in fright, and all who saw him knew right away, that the pup was afraid of the night.
What shall we do? The children asked as they all took off their masks. This puppy’s afraid and scared of the dark and nobody seems to care. But a boy dressed as a bear picked up the pup and cuddling him close said. “I care. I’ll take you with me and you’ll sit by my knee and you’ll never be frightened again. I’ll hug you and hold you and no one will hurt you because you’re my best friend.
So he took him on home and he took him inside and he washed and he combed his short hair, and he fixed him a bed near the firplace so warm, next to his master’s chair.
And every year on the birth of the hound the kids all come round to hear, their favorite sound not scary no more, the song of the Halloween Hound.
