A humorous poem about fighting the same old battle every morning.
It lies in wait for me each and every morning,
ready to emerge from under the bathroom sink.
I’m never prepared, never heed the warning
to get into fighting shape. What do I think –
that maybe today it will finally let me win?
Shower done, it’s time to engage this enemy.
It lies there non-threatening before me, but then …
I step on. Its large, red, digital numbers assault me.
I scowl, now get rid of the towel, yet still I howl.
“But I ate hardly anything for two days!” I wail.
Nevertheless, I’ve lost another battle with my scale.
