THE FACE IN THE MIRROR

The face in the mirror
was wrinkled and old;
Silver hair slipping out
of the hairnets last hold.

All hope had faded,
she soon lost control
and reached for the bottle;
Time had taken its toll!

No longer a beauty,
she felt quite alone;
Nightmares and daydreams,
no place to call home.

A pity that we take for granted
the fleeting beauty of youth;
as time, slipping by, reminds us
that the mirror speaks only truth!
