What it feels like to so far away from home during the holidays.
Lights twinkling on the trees outside,
While snow flutters down to grace the yard.
Snowball fights erupting with no place to hide,
Memories of us getting together hit me so hard.

The lights dimmed low in the living room,
As a melody is heard throughout the house.
Hoping that the big day would be here soon,
We search for the gifts being quiet as a mouse.

The aroma of fresh baked cookies fills the air,
While we watch the classic specials on TV.
Just thinking of Christmas - how I long to be there,
As this feeling in my heart dwells within me.

Now that the family has grown and Grandma is gone,
Being so far away from home hurts me so much.
Phone calls just can't suffice - It feels so wrong.
Christmas is supposed to be a time for families and friends and such.

Now, decorating our home and mailing out cards,
Past memories are filling our lives in such wonderful ways.
Mom and Dad we love you always so don't lose heart,
For one day we will be together - home for the holidays.
