Something for the kids in all of us.

SNOW DAY
I had a real crummy time at school yesterday
It was a pain-in-the-neck day when nothing went my way
I was blamed for saying these things I didn’t say
About the older sister of my best friend Jay
I was scolded for a spitball that sort of went astray
And landed in the hair of my teacher, Ms. Dupre
I got punched in the nose by that mean Sally Gray
And kicked in the shins by her twin sister May
In the cafeteria, I tripped and dropped my lunch tray
Wasting the lunch lady’s “surprise” soufflé
In class, I fumbled and put the L before the K
And for some reason answered that winter ends in May
Now it’s time to get up and try again today
My alarm just rang, there’s no time to delay
But wait a just a second, what did mom say
Six inches on the ground, six more on the way
There’s no need to worry, no need for dismay
Because today there’s no school, today’s a snow day.
