En route from London to Paris by train, my thoughts were very far away...
Dover...

If you were in another galaxy,
This ache would still draw me,
to see you in flesh,
Houri, you are only a footstep away,
yet it is the most exciting I have ever dared tread.

Calais...

I spy, with my little eye,
something more beautiful than I had ever imagined,
This imperfect portal,
that sends me enchanted images,
protects me from your radiance,
that will surely burn my flesh
when I at last stand before you.

Paris...

To see perfectly the beauty I have been sent poor shadows of,
will surely make me go blind.
To hear softly whispered tones of which I have only heard crude echoes,
will surely send me deaf,
To feel in flesh the imagined touch of your soft skin,
will surely burn me,
To become one with you as I have only in dreams,
will stop my heart.
These are all risks I am prepared to take.
