Vampires and vampire-hunters...who are really the hunters and the hunted?
[Introduction]
** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

Welcome to Oppidum Umbra, The City of Shadows;
a meeting ground for vampires and their would-be assassins.

During the daylight, this metropolis bustles with humans, working to make their living. But when darkness falls, a new crowd moves in.

Visit Lamia, a night club for humans run by unknown patrons; vampires welcome.
Humans, stear clear of Turris, the city's vampire coven.
Maybe you vampires should avoid The Haven, a meeting place for vampire hunters.
Or maybe...we could all take a long walk down dark alleyways and deserted backstreets, until we reach the docks, where no one will hear you...

<evil laughter>

Welcome, again, to our great city...where the undead walk beside the living.

To get started...

First: Create a character.
Pick either a vampire or a vampire hunter, and write up a character sketch for the benefit of your fellow writers:

Name:
Sex:
Race: (vamp, human: vamp hunter, human, ect.)
Age:
Appearance:
Weapon of Choice:
Brief History and/or character description:

Here's an example (the leader of the coven)

Name: Adele "Queen Adele" (an important character to any vampire)

Sex: Female

Race: Vampire

Age: 255 (as a vampire)

Appearance: Red hair, green eyes, 5'4", slender

Weapon of Choice: Adele hates to fight, hates more to kill, but if the need arises, and she can't use her own teeth to do the job, she uses her dead sire's twin sai. She can be quite deadly if she wants to. Best not to piss her off.

Character History: Adele remembers nothing of her life as a human. Her sire said that sometimes the change is too much for the brain to handle. Twenty years after she turned, she established Turris. Her sire had been murdered by a vampire hunter, and she no longer felt safe with the way they had existed together. Ever since, she made the mansion a safe haven for vampires. The vampires in the coven started calling her "Queen Adele", and it stuck.

Note: You can have more than one character if that is your wish.

Second: Post your character.
In your first turn, post your character sketch. This will give us all an idea of who and what we're up against.

And Finally: The Fun Begins!
In your second turn introduce your character. From then on, it's nothing but blood spilling good fun.

(Remember...it is totally uncool to kill another person's character without his/her permission.)

They stayed together for ten years, but not before he sucked te life from the man who tried to kill him. When he split with Claudette, he traveled the world, staying for years in places he liked, until in 1999, he found himself in the City of Shadows. He decided to stay, and the numerous other vampires gave him the nickname "Cowboy".

Oppidum Umbra...The City of Shadows...

A city near to bursting with vampires and those who seek to destroy them. The humans inhabiting the city seemed to have no idea a war waged while they slept. And those humans who weren't sleeping, or sharpening their weapons against the vampires, often found themselves becoming a victim of a master of charm and deception.

Not all vampires living in the City of Shadows were evil. But the ones who were, never left a victim alive, and were never satisfied with just one victim a night.

The growing number of dead or missing humans didn't help those vampires who had learned to control their urges and leave their victims alive with no memory of the encounter. No...it left them with a horde of angry humans trained to hunt down and kill vampires.

One of the doomed vampires stood at the window of her room inside the formidable, highly guarded, coven house. The house, Turris, was created with only one thought in mind: Protection. Even over two hundred years ago, when the coven was established, vampires found themselves easy prey for determined humans. So the house was erected in hopes that the night-bound creatures would have a safe haven.

The woman by the window, watching as rain fell in sheets to the dark street below, was called Queen Adele. She had long since excepted the title given to her by her charges within the mansion. And even though she had never intended it that way, she knew the vampires within the house were her charges.

The house was hers. She built it, and she ran it. It was she who assigned who would be in charge of finding new ways of protecting the house and the vampires within. She was the one who decided who could stay and where they would sleep during the deadly daylight hours. She couldn't deny that she had unintentionally become their leader. And she would be until she died, or the house was destroyed.

Out of the corner of her eye, Adele caught sight of two vampires emerging out into the street. The night was young, and she was sure they were on the hunt. The rain soon soaked their hair and clothes. Adele knew it would be an encumberance, but the vampires within her coven were resourseful.

She smiled as she watched them race across the nearly deserted street. She was sure they were on their way to Lamia, the night club in the center of the city where vampires could dance along side humans with little fear. It was a place to find easy prey.

Just then, another vampire emerged from the house, his dark cowboy hat and trench coat clearly visible to Adele's keen eyes. She narrowed her eyes at that one as he slowly made his way down the sidewalk in front of the house.

The Cowboy, she thought. What a silly name the others had given him. She preferred to call him by his birth name, Kyle. It seemed so much more personal, which she liked.

But this one scared her. He was a loner, which all in itself made her instincts tell her to be wary of him. But aside from that, he was controlled. She had to admit, she admired his willpower, but to show no emotion what-so-ever was dangerous. She knew from past experience. From another vampire, tall and handsome, strictly controlled, and oh so tempting...

With a shutter, Adele pushed the memory from her mind. It was pointless to dwell on the past. Learning from past mistakes was all one needed to do. And it was hard won knowledge that made her eye Kyle as he neared the end of the prperty.

Suddenly, he turned. Seeing her in the window, he lifted a hand to the brim of his hat and gave a little nod.

Adele watched him turn back, trying to calm her uneven breathing. She told herself not to repeat the past. She may not be able to rectify the mistake again. This time, it could easily kill them all.

*          *          *

As Kyle put distance between himself and Turris, he pushed thoughts of Queen Adele from his mind. She was a good leader, but not his. She was just another leader in another city.

Turris was only a temporary home; if you could call five years temporary. When the City of Shadows bacame boring, he would leave; just like he had in the years he'd traveled the world. He didn't know where he'd go once he left, but that was the beauty of being unattached.

The pulsing beat of music, soon pulled Kyle to Lamia. He would never have admitted it to anyone, but press of warm bodies and the pounding of the music always made his blood race. He actually liked to dance.

He soon found himself on the main dance floor, a warm human pressed against him from every angle. He could smell their blood and almost feel it pumping in their veins.

The sensuality of the dance eventually got to him, and he knew he either needed to feed or get the hell out of there. If he didn't, he wasn't sure how long his precious controll would last.

A pretty little teenager, probably just old enough to get into the club, rubbed her pert little breats against his ribs. He took the opportunity and pulled her even closer, using the ruse of a kiss to have a taste of her.

When her blood rushed past his lips, Kyle had to remind himself he was only in for a taste. She was sweet and when she sighed in his ear, it took all willpower to stop.

Licking the blood from her neck closed the wound. He kissed her again, telepathically commanding her to forget. When the kiss ended, the girl gave him a dreamy expression and turned away. He knew he had to get out of there.

Outside, the rain had stopped, but it left a fresh coolness to the air that hit Kyle's face and helped to cool his blood.

Control, he silently reminded himself. "Without control," he said aloud, "you're just another murdering monster."

Not convinced he was in total control, Kyle decided not to go back inside. Awalk in the cool night air would do him and his troubled thoughts good.

Leidy sat on the railing of the balcony of her master's loft. She stared out into the night sky, and sighed. The smell of filth and humans filled surrounded her. Look at them, parading around with no shame... little do they know that we watch them... hunt them... A human couple caught her attention as they passed by on the streets below. Leidy tilted her head to the side, and watched them... curiously. The cool night breeze playfully tugged at her hair. She turned and slipped off the balcony into the tiny loft she shared with her master. He was sitting on the living room couch with a woman he had brought up a few minutes ago. By now, her throat was viciously ripped open, and her blood flowed freely. Her master looked up from feeding, and gave her a join me stare. Leidy loved to feed. She loved to feel the essence of the human flow through her, warming her up just a bit. With no hesitation, Leidy took the limp body of the woman and buried her face into her open throat. Still warm... She thought as she drank happily. "Feed my pet..." Her master ran his fingers through her hair, and laughed, as if pleased. Leidy shivered a bit from his touch... she never liked for anyone to touch her... not after what happened to her so long ago. But it was ever so long ago, and this was her life now.
Keira sat alone on a bench in the park. She had been walking all night and hadnt come across one vampire. So she decided to sit at the park. After all sunrise was only 4 hours away.

"How lame. What is tonight Vampys stay in?" Keira muttered swinging her feet.

Keira looked down at her shoes and sighed.

"Can I join you?" asked a firmliar male voice.
Jeager had spent most of his night on the hunt but when he looked up at the sky he noticed that it would be dawn soon. He knew that most of the vampires would be on there way retiring from to night activities. As he made one last sweep through the park he noticed Keira sitting on a bench.

“Can I join you?” he said as he watched her look up surprise. She nodded as she gestured to the empty spot on the bench next to her. “By the way you look I’ll assume you didn’t kill anything tonight!” he said as he looked up and caught the reflection of something in the trees behind them. “Nothing at all, did the all go on vacation and forget to leave a memo” she laughed as she looked around. Both knew that a good hunter never let the guard. For a lot of the old didn’t exactly die at dawn some could wondering around after just as long direct sun doesn’t touch them. “Yeah, I went to the club twice and saw nothing” he said as he looked towards the trees again. “You ever get the feeling your being watched,” she asked as she glanced at the trees too. Jeager nodded as they both stood and drew weapons. “So we may get to have little fun tonight” Jeager laughed.

“I don’t mean to be a brat!” Isis laughed
“Yes, you do!” Adele smiled as she continued to watch the city and the coming of going of everyone.
“You’re right, but I just can’t help my self” she laughed as she walked out the room and to the roof of the house she like to watch just like Adele but she preferred to do hers from the roof to her the view was better. She watched as the Cowboy, she so did love his name not to mention he was looker, went towards Lamia and decide that may be where she was headed for a night a fun and trouble. She looked up one more time letting the rain splash her face before returning to her room to change.

Isis pulled her long black hair and two pigtails and put on her favorite catholic schoolgirl uniform and head for Lamia for a little snack and fun. If she was lucky she might even get to see Jeager. As she entered the club she could feel the music pulling her towards the dance floor. She lost all thought of Jeager as she began to feel the warmth and pulse of the bodies on the floor with her. She danced for what seemed liked hours. “Why don’t we make this a private dance?” a male voice said from behind her and he held her close and continued to move to the music. “Yes” she said with a smile on her face and led him off to less crowded part of the club. “Aren’t you a little young to be here?” he laughed as he turned her around and got a look at what he picked up for the first time. “NO” she laughed as she wrapped her arms around his next and began a slow kiss causing him to come down to her level before he realized they were both sitting in the chair her sitting in his lap. “I so do like them willing” she said to her self as she sank her dainty fangs in to his neck and drank until she was satisfied. She never killed just tasted enough to survive but not enough to bind she was saving that for some one special.

Devon watched her walk into the club, her long blonde hair swaying from side to side. This was a popular human club, but he knew that she was definately not human. He waited for nearly two minutes, before entering the club himself. The loud music hit him in the face, and it took his ears a second to adjust. He looked around the club and spotted her. She was at the bar, and already there were at least four guys hovered around her. He had a feeling that tonight was going to be an intense night. He walked over to her, and moved the other guys out of the way, but gently. They immediately started getting defensive, but Devon did not take his eyes from hers. She waved the others away, all the while holding his gaze. He leaned across her, and leaned on the bar. She leaned toward him and licked his earlobe.
"Let's leave." she purred into his now moistened ear.
He pushed away from the bar,and followed her out of the club. They walked together for awhile.
"Where are we going?" Devon asked in his deep, sort of raspy voice.
"To my apartment." she wrapped her arm around his waist.
He hadn't been expecting to go to an apartment, and thought that maybe he had been mistaken about this one.

They reached her apartment, and he followed her through the door.
"Make yourself comfortable, I'll be right back."
He watched her leave the room, and took that time to check out his surroundings. It was actually a pretty cozy apartment. He opened the fridge, and was shocked to see that it was well stocked with food. So he had made a terrible mistake. He slammed the fridge door, and cursed. He was slipping, he used to be able to determine a vamp from a human from miles away. She came back into the room wearing some see-through thing. He ran his hand through his already messy hair.
"Listen, I really shouldn't have come here."
She walked over to him, and touched his face.
"Well, now that you are here, why don't you stay?"
He looked down at her nearly naked body, and couldn't deny his body's reaction. He kissed her, and was surprised at how warm her face and hands were. She led him to the couch, and they continued making out. Once all of his guards were down, she made her move. Devon cried out, and threw her off of him. She smiled from the floor, showing a mouth full of blood. He grasped his hand to his chest, and saw the blood.
"You bitch!" he cried.
"But how? The fridge,...and you are warm."
She stood slowly, and licked her lips.
"You hunters are so easy to fool. I keep the fridge stocked, and as for my temperature...." she reached over pulled something from the bathroom.
"What do you think I was doing all of that time?"
He looked at the object and saw a hot water bottle.
"Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to finish my meal."
She lunged at him, and he quickly drew his knife, and plunged it into her chest.
She landed on the floor, looked at the knife, that he still held, and laughed.
"You suck at this! A knife isn't going to hurt me!"
He smiled at her.
"No, but the oil will." he pressed the button, and watched the horror on her face, as she turned to dust. He grabbed the keys to the apartment off the table and pocketed them, then went in search of a broom. He had just scored himself a well stocked, furnished apartment.

Trexmont walked down the alley as he heard some screaming coming from the next alley down,he ran towards the screams as he spotted 2 vampires feasting on a young girl's blood.

He hook his head as he replied"Alright guys party time is over release the girl"they hissed loudly as they dropped the girl and stared at him.

Trexmont pulled out his twin swords as he twirled them in his hands"Step right up and see what happens when you fight a vampire hunter!"

The vampires jumped at him as Trexmont shoved a sword through each of their chests"Hurts doesn't it?"

They reached for his neck as Trexmont he pulled out the crossbow from his trenchcoat and unloaded 2 arrows into their skulls.

They fell over as Trexmont ripped his swords from their chests leaving their bloody corpses in the alley next to their victim.
Nights like these come only so often. Every vampire and every vampire hunter would be out on the streets tonight, and yet here old Johnny was, locked up tight in the room he had been given by Queen Adele. He stood staring out the window down to the streets below as the rain fell in sheets and the wind blew endlessly. I suppose you wouldn't call what he was doing staring, as his eye had not the ability to do so. He was sensing, feeling. He felt a young vampire enter the club across the street, followed by a hunter. They both left moments later and Johnathon knew that this was that particular vampires last night on earth.

It alway seemed funny to Johnny, hunters constantly walked by this old building, constantly went into the club right across the street, but their attention was never captured by the building itself. Perhaps it was Adele's doing, the hunters couldn't be that stupid. And Johnny didn't think them that at all, you have to respect your enemy, or you'll never be able to beat them. Johnny himself had killed a hunter or two, it really wasn't fair though, he had an uncanny ability to sense the amount of power they posessed and was, unlike many other vampires, able to judge if he would be able to destroy the vampire hunter in question. If he sensed the hunter was stonger than he, then he would make his escape. Johnny was no weakling, even without his sight, but who wants to fight a losing battle?

There came a knock on the door and Johnny jmped slightly. No, he didn't normaly scare easily, but he hadn't been paying attention to the presence approaching. He knew immediately that it was Queen Adele and crossed the room hastily to allow her entrance. He unbolted the door and pulled it open.

"Adele," he said, "it's so good to see you." He smiled at the joke and could tell she was smiling as well.

"Johnathon," she said, "why do you keep yourself locked up in this room all night long."

"I've been resaerching some things," he said.

"You should be out, feeding," Adele told him, "every vampire has to hunt."

"I suppose you're right," Johnny said, "I might just go out tonight. Although, there are many hunters prowling the streets." Adele nodded knowingly.

"They have become a bit of a problem haven't they?" She questioned.

"All problems have a solution," Johnny said, "you just need to find it." Adele nodded and turned to leave.

"That's dangerous thinking Johnathon," Adele said before exiting. "You don't want to get hurt."

Name: Amadias Van Hydra (AKA: Dias or Hydra)

After a time he wandered into Oppidum Umbra and found Turris, since then he's been around but very few actually live to remember him, those that do are all vampires and always in Turris.

Weapons: Although he is good with a knife and sword he much prefers his guns, he always carries his hand made zip - gun and a couple of revolvers. he also keeps a switchblade in his pocket at all times.
Name: Skarlya
Sex: Female
Race: Human/Vampire Hunter
Age:18 (about)

Appearence: Skarlya has long black hair and whitish skin, many mistake her for a vampire but she is not. Her eyes are green and her posture is strong and commanding.

Personality: Skarlya is deadly and efficient, she has nothing against vampires, she just kills them for a living, because she gets paid. She tries to have no emotional attachments.

History: She was always homeless, but once she had been a happy friendly child. Then she was raped by a band of vicious men andleft for dead. Ever since she has sworn not to reveal emotions towards anybody and has become cold and unmerciful. She is known among vampires as the scar.

Weapons: Skarlya usually carries a bow, with oiled arrows, daggers and a saber. She hates working with guns as they are usually loud and she works in silence.

Assinia pulled the curtains closed and let the darkness settle in over her apartment. A desolate and all over depressing place, but it suited Assinia fine. It was all the money she had in that two room shack with splintered floors and cracked walls. Assinia pushed her raven hair away from her face, curling her finger around the end of a piece. She breathed deeply, settling herself in for a night of hunting.
She moved over to her bed and reached under the frame. She slid a small wooden box out and slid her fingers over the lid. Her name was written in fancy print and it was obvious the box had once been a thing of beauty, but it had withered with age.
Inside the box were two wooden stakes, small and sharp. They were not much to look at, most hunters these days had taken it up a notch. But it was all Assinia could do, and they worked for her. Next to the stakes was a small black square, a lighter that Assinia had specially rigged to served the purposes of a torch.
Assinia didn't even know if she wanted to hunt. She only knew that she had to. And she was going to. It was the only purpose she felt that she was born to. Or rather, had aquired sometime in her twenty three years of existance.
Keira sighed as a group of drunk teenagers emerged from the bushes.

"Damn well that just puts a damper on the whole night." Keira said running a hand through her hair. Jeager sighed and put his weapon away.

"Well that sucked." he said watching the kids run off.

"Yeah but I can still enjoy myself" Keira said smiling. She looked at the kids and yelled

"Hey you kids! Stop this is the police!" The kids seemed to frezze and several of them started running of. Keira drew her gun as if to fire and the rest of the teens ran off jumping over a nearby wall.

"That was the highlight of my evening." Jeager said laughing.

"Yeah it was." Keira said as a hand shot out and grabbed her and Jeager's throats.
“Can you please put him down” Isis said sweetly as she sat on the bench and watched the man that had Jeager and Keira by the throats. He was new to the are for everyone know that you don’t really hunt the hunters you play with them . Well at least she did. “there hunters?” he growled as she began to squeeze there neck. “Really!” she jumped up with mock surprise on her face “I would of never known.”

“is she always like this?” Keira siad as she struggled against the man holding her by the troat.

“worse” Jeager said as she looked at Isis and realized that he may never be able to killer her.

“What are they to u, little one?” the unknown vampire asked as he looked over Isis. She had pulled the pigtails out of her hair. Her hair hang low don her back making her appear more childlike then seductress
“he is mine, mine to toy with mine to kill” she said as the pointed to Jeager. “And the girl?” he asked.
“Nothing but he as fondness for her and I like to keep him happy, so let them go before I kill u” she said as she looked at the other vampire.

“you would kill me, for two hunters” he asked astonished

“NO, I’ll kill just cause I can” she laughed as she started walking towards him. he took a step back but once realizing what he did he stop moving but didn’t retake the steps. Something about the small black hair beauty scared him and he didn’t know what.

The screams were deafening. The child ran as fast as he could, still not knowing where he was going, or what he was running from. As he turned the corner of the hallway, he screamed.
"Hush now little one." came the whisper.
There in the darkened kitchen, was a woman. She came closer to the boy, who now pressed against the wall, wimpering. The woman reached her hand out to him, and he cringed. Her long fingernails brushed gently through his blonde hair.
"SSShhhhh." came the almost slithering sound.
"Go into the basement, you will be safe there."
The child was lifted to his feet, and turned in the direction of the basement. His feet pattered down the stairs, and he hurried to huddle under them. Then he heard her one last time.
"What has been taken from you today, will be returned tenfold when the time is right."
Then darkness surrounded him, as the basement door was closed.

Devon woke up in a sweat, gasping for air. It was the same dream. He had it everytime he killed a vampire. He knew it had something to do with the night his family was killed, but he didn't remember any of that happening. He threw the blanket off, and headed into the bathroom. He looked into the mirror, and the pale face looking back at him, only vaguely resembled his own. He then turned the shower on, and stepped in. He rubbed the hot water over his face roughly, then leaned one hand against the wall in front of him, while the water ran over his body. After a few moments, he looked around the shower for soap, but the only thing he could find that didn't smell like vanilla or flowers, was some shampoo. He shrugged his shoulders, and decided to use that as soap.

Devon toweled off, and looked at the clock. It said 9:17 pm. He wrapped the towel around his waist, and ran out to the kitchen. That clock said the same thing. Slowly, he made his way back to the bedroom. God, he had slept an entire day away. He sighed, and reached down to the floor to grab some clean clothes out of his bag. He had just pulled the t-shirt over his head, when he heard a knock on the door. Instantly he stiffened. He refilled his knives, and slowly made his way to the door, all the while wondering if this was friend or foe.
Trexmont looked at the bloody corpses as he sensed someone watching him, he drew his swords again as he spotted another vamp on the balcony above.

He climbed the fire escape as he made his way to the balcony, as he reached the balcony the vamp attacked him.

He knocked the vamp off as he stared at it "Well if you was smart you would have left when I killed the others".

The vamp hissed angrily as Trexmont swung his sword through it's chest slicing it into two halves.

He wiped the blood off his swords as he climbed back down to the street below, things were beginning to quiet down at least for now.
I can hear them screaming. I can feel them suffering. Every vampire that dies on this night or any other, I can feel them. I know that on this particular eve, many children of the night were dead or dying, but who was it that was killing them? A hunter. One that felt obliged to rid the earth of Johnothan's kind. We can't have that now can we?

The night was warm but with every gust of wind the temperature dropped to freezing and then immediately went back up to warm again. John stepped into the street and was nearly hit by a car. He never looked when crossing, he found the driver's reactions amusing as they slammed on their brakes and blared their horn. Johnny didn't care. He pushed his way through a crowd of people that had gathered on a street corner and was shouted at for doing so. He didn't even give the a sideways glance as he continued on his journey to find out who was killing such a large amount of vampires.

It was nearly dawn, nearly time for him to retreat into the tunnels that hid him from everyone. Amadias Van Hydra stepped lightly across the anciant rooves, his eyes glowing a faint silvery grey. Nothing was around except for him and the one he was following, a huntress. One who's blood was so ready, so raw on the air. He licked his lips, tasting the scent of freshly spilt blood.

Long dark hair swaying in the breeze, pale, almost luminescent skin, cut across on arm. Strong, powerful steps carried her over the ground as quickly as any vampire. Something about her made him want to turn back but he would not. No he was Amadias and nothing wuld turn him away from this prey. But he stopped anyway. His feet not wanting to move at all. The girl began to turn, slowly and eminating sheer anger.

"After me?" She smiled thinly, "Stupid little monster..." She came closer, shking her head softly, "Don't you realise who I am?"

He looked closely at her, his silvery grey eyes beginnning to glow slightly, she haulted herself, forced to still with his own mind, "I know who you are... The scar..."

She nodded grimly, that icy smile still attached to her face.

"But you don't know who I am."

Amadias closed his eyes, knowing it would free her but meaning he could escape. He started to run, she was there, just behind him, ready to catch him, turn him to dust, he wanted to die, but not now and not like this. He swooped upwards but a hand grabbed his foot. He made no sound as he was pulled slowly downwards by her weight.

"Amadias -" She cried, and he froze, unable to escape the power of a name. He was trapped.
Skarlya looked down at the young looking vampire, a smirk on her cold white face,

"stupid, stupid, monster," she snarled at him, fully aware that he could still hear her, "did you really think that you could beat me?"

He stared back at coldly, as if daring her to try and kill him. As if taking this as a challenge, she unsheathed her dagger and brought it up above the vampires heart.

"Say goodbyr you unworthy scum," she whispered before bringing the dagger down hard straight through the vampire's heart. Amadias gave a little cry and fell completely still.

Skarlya left his corpse where it was and retraced her steps back across the rooftops until she came to the window she had left open for herself. She was eager to claim her reward, there had been a high price on that vampires head. Skarlya was careful not to wipe away it's blood, that was her proof of actually killing the beast. She swung back through the broken window, careful not to cut herself on the glass and hurried down to the ground floor, exiting through a back door and instantly melting into the shadows and slinking back to her small apartment. Back up on the rooftop Amadias stirred, gasping he sat up wondering what had happened, The skar couldn't have missed on purpose, yet he definately had meant to kill him. There was only one other explanation, and Amadias did not even want to think about that, anyway, it wasn't possible, was it?
*Sorry I took so long. My computer threw a long and complicated tantrum*

Name: Adam

Sex: Female

Race: Vampire

Appearance: Adam is intimidatingly tall and purposely androgynous. She has very fine, white-blonde hair - cut short and spiky - and startlingly deep blue eyes that swim with loathing and never sit still. One long, ragged scar survives from her life; running up the inside of her right arm, close to the vein. She dresses in clothes she steals from the dead, and wears them until bloodstains and rips render them unwearable.

Weapon of choice: Anything sharp she can find. Failing that, she kicks and bites.

Brief history: Adam - when she was alive - was called Julia. Julia always tried so hard to be liked but somehow, things never quite worked out... until she met Ed, and realised she didn't NEED anyone else to like her. Then she was happy. Until Ed died, and came back a monster; and Julia realised that he couldn't love her with a cold, dead heart. She begged him to make her a vampire too. And he did. The next day she left him for the Sun to find. Unstable from birth, death messed Julia up even more; and every night since then has seen her slide a little further down the spiral.
Name: Rayna Riverside

Sex: Female

Race: Vampire Hunter

Age: 19

Appearance: Rayna is petite yet voluptuous. She's around 5'3", 113lbs, 36C chest, tiny waist, size 3 pants, lean legs, all lean muscle really. She's drop dead gorgeous with thick wavy ebony hair reaching to the small of her back, large icy blue eyes with a navy blue ring around the edges of the irises, a button nose, and full pink lips. She has each ear pierced multiple times and her belly button pierced. On her lower back she has a Celtic design tattooed. She also has a small water faerie on her right hip (only visible when she's wearing a bikini or low cut pants). She wears a lot of 'romantic' clothing. Layered skirts, corsets, knee-length dresses over jeans...lacy armbands. She also can be very trendy, but usually only in disguise.

Weapon of Choice: Dagger bound to her calf, a small one in the pouch inside her boot, and a few wooden stakes always kept in times of need.

Brief History and/or character description: Rayna's family was killed when she was very young, and she was raised by a family of vampires that took her for half-vampire. But when she witnessed them kill an entire innocent family, she ran off and learned the ways of the vampire hunters. She's very seductive, yet very sweet. She feels compassion towards some vampires, but others she lives to kill. It seems she is somehow related to 'Queen Adele', but that's a myth, there's no proof. Rayna can be either playful or serious, and has a split personality. She has an amazing voice and is a almost perfect dancer in many different forms. Being a wicca, Rayna has knowledge of many spells and sometimes uses them (but never black magick). Rayna is a huge hopeless romantic, and is telepathic (a factor that leads people to believe that she is half-vampire, for her strange telepathic and telekinetic powers). She once had a strange dream in which she was in love with the one she had to kill. To this very day she's been trying to find him, human, vampire, or vampire hunter. She's promised herself that she'd find him.
--------------------------------------------------

The cold night air stung Rayna's soft, pale skin as she ran through the back alleys. In her left hand, she clutched her red vixen wig, and in her right, a bag which held her alias. She rushed into the nearest building, a library, and headed straight for the bathroom to change. She couldn't let them recognize her. Even though it was her first day, well night, at Oppidum Umbra, she already had attracted the vampires. "How typical." she thought grumpily, pulling on the short black pleated skirt, leggings, and long sleeve blue shirt. She pulled her long hair up into the wig and quickly applied makeup, trying to appear as a green eyed siren. She smiled at her new pouty red lips (her lips were already pouty but now they shined with red lipstick and gloss), now natural red eyebrows (ah the wonders of washable hair color), and green eyes. She sprayed herself a few times with some body spray that reeked of rasberry, and hid her bag in the corner, under the last sink. No one would think to touch it.
Heading out, she winked her natural long dark lashes (but now coated with black mascara and lined with black eyeliner as well) at a few of the men smoking outside. She strutted in her shining blue heels down the sidewalk, proud of her alias of the night. The vampires ran right past her, barely taking notice of the vixen who only minutes before had been the naturally gorgeous vampire hunter running faster than anyone they'd seen before. Rayna smirked and headed to the nearest clothing store still open. She skimmed through the aisles, but quickly bought fishnet hose, a skimpy shirt covered in jewels and showing her midriff, a bright pink miniskirt, a matching orange one, blue hair dye, some body glitter, and a few other things. She got just enough to cover her other stuff at the bottom of the bag lying in the library bathroom. She quickly headed back and shoved her clothes and shoes into her new shopping bag, then through her new purchases over top. Who knows? Maybe this would be her next alias.
"That would be really amusing." she thought, smirking. Somehow, a lot of her disguises were slutty in some way. But, since the sluts usually roamed the streets at night, it was easy to be ignored.
Hailing a cab, Rayna started thinking of home. Home was a place that Rayna never really had. She lived her life without the love or support of a family, unless you count the vampires that mercilessly killed an innocent family, including a 3-year-old baby girl. By now, Rayna knew that huge indulgences like that were rare. But nevertheless, she refused to back down on her search of Queen Adele and the man she was destined to fall in love with.
Bored, Rayna started searching the taxi driver's thoughts, here and there adding her own little comments. She giggled every time he shook his head in wonder.
His mind didn't contain many memories, it seemed he had even blocked a lot of them. Still bored, Rayna decided to wash the dye out of her eyebrows. She took out her water bottle (usually filled with so called 'holy water', but today just filled with tap), some hotel shampoo, and quickly scrubbed it all out.
Only a few moments after Rayna finished washing all the dye out of her eyebrows, the taxi driver (who turned out to be young and very good looking) pulled out his dagger and growled, "Okay vampire, now, it's time to die."
"I'm not a vampire!" Rayna cried, and quickly backed away. She yanked her wig off and leg her hair fall messily around her. The man looked as if in a transe for a moment or two, then quickly backed away.
"Who are you then?" he asked, still suspicious. Rayna sighed and pulled out one of her own daggers.
"One of you. Rayna."
"Devon." he responded.
Rayna smiled.
"Were you at my door earlier?" he asked.
She just kept smiling. "See you 'round, Devon." she waved and started out of the car, grabbing her bag. Into his mind, she implanted her address. She winked and him and headed down the block, running full speed and barefoot, heels dangling in her hands.

And now she wanders about...she is looking for a place where other vampires will accept her for who she is.
Kyle watched the little black haired human running away from the cab with her shoes dangling from her fingertips. He admired her little backside for a moment before he glanced back at the cab.

Inside, he could see the man was watching the alluring girl as well. He leaned against the brick wall behind him.

Kyle had known as soon as he'd seen the man, that he was a hunter. After hearing that vampires had been dying left and right, he decided to stick to the shadows and see what he could find. This one had been his first sight.

Of course, this one hadn't done much since Kyle had spotted him. He'd gotten into this cab and drove around. Kyle-using the shadows to hide his unusal speed-hadn't had any trouble following. Bu he was begining to wonder if the guy was really a hunter.

The cab moved away from the curb and Kyle pushed himself away from the wall. He'd follow this hunter for a little longer before headed off to find someone else.

When the cab neared the park, Kyle's keen ears picked up a familiar voice. He wouldn't have considered the owner of the voice a friend, but he could check out what was going on anyway. He left the street, slightly relieved he was leaving the boring cab, and headed into the park like he hadn't a care in the world.

That's when he heard a different voice.

"You would kill me for two hunters?"

Kyle frowned. This was a vampire, but not one he knew.

"No," said that voice that was all sweet and sour at the same time. "I kill just cause I can."

Then she laughed. Kyle came around the bushes to see a big vampire holding two struggling humans by the throat. In front of him was the owner of that voice. Her long black hair was down her back, making her look even smaller than she really was. He almost grinned at the sight.

"Need any help, Isis?" He asked, trying to sound bored.

All four of them turned to look at him, and unless he was seeing things, the two humans shared a strange look. The big vampire frowned at him. And sweet little Isis put her hands on her curvy hips.

Kyle could have laughed.

Adele tried not to shake in terror as she walked down te street away from Turris. It had been months since she'd left the house, waiting until she was near to starving before she went out to feed. It wasn't only her love of the human race that had her doing this either.

Adele may love the human race, but she is so terrified of being killed by a hunter, that she leaves the house only when she must. And now was one of those times.

Someone had let her know that all Hell was breaking loose out tonight. Adele may love the human race, but her family of vampires is just that: family.

Looking at the humans running back and forth on the sidewalk and across tha streets, Adele wondered where her friends were. She had talked to Johnathon and Isis recently, but she hadn't seen them in a while. And she hadn't seen Kyle since he left the house. And what of her other famliy. Where were they all? How many had died tonight?

While her mind was wandering, Adele's senses weren't on alert. A hand clamped down on her shoulder and she screamed.
Keira found herself soon chained to a wall, Jeager next to her.

"Well I must say this is the most fun I've had all day." Keira muttered.

"Just wait until she comes back." He said sighing.

"No thanks. Lets hurry up and try and find a way out of here." Keira said struggling against her chains.

"Here she comes." He said looking towards the large wooden door.

Devon approached the door silently, daggers by his sides. He paused at the door, looked out through the peep hole, and jumped back, as a flash of black crossed the hall outside. He flung the door open, but the long hallway was empty. He grabbed his jacket, and the keys, and decided to take a drive. He waited in the shadows for the cabbie to turn the 'on duty' light off, and watched him walk into his apartment. Devon "borrowed" the cab and promised himself that he would return this one on time, and relatively unharmed. He had driven around for a bit, and was getting a little hungry, so he ordered some take out. He was just finishing up, when he saw a girl hailing him. He figured it might be a way to make a little extra cash, so what the hell. He pulled over and she got in. He thought her face was cute, but she was a bit too trashy for him. That was when he felt it. The little tramp was trying to get into his head. But why didn't he sense vamp coming from her? He pulled over and turned to her, dagger aimed.
"Alright vampire, time to die!"
To his surprise, she ripped off her wig, and a mess of black hair fanned around her. He was stunned for a second, but regained composure.
"Who are you then?" he asked her.
"One of you." she held up her own dagger. "Rayna"
"Devon" he nodded.
She smiled at him, and something seemed very odd about this girl.
"Were you at my door earlier?" he asked her.
She just kept smiling at him, and if her didn't know any better, he'd think that she was flirting with him.
"See ya around Devon!" she said, as she left the car, and ran off.
He was still watching her, when an address popped into his head. He laughed and shook his head in wonder. "
"Definately gonna hafta keep an eye on that one." he mumbled.
He sat there for a few more moments before deciding that he needed a drink. He pulled the cab out onto the road, and headed to the Haven.
Trexmont walked slowly down the streets, searching for anymore vampires as he spotted a woman running down the block.

He clutched his swords ready to attack as he watched her run past him with heels in hand.

She didn't appear to be a vampire but then again they always were very masterful at disguising their appearance.

Trexmont watched her disappear down the block as he jumped up onto a fire escape and climbed up on top of one of the buildings.

He watched her from high atop the building as a vampire snuck up behind him and tried to attack him.

He elbowed the vamp in the stomach as he shoved his sword through it's neck, he threw the vamp's lifeless body over the railing as he went back to look for the woman.
Skarlya walked into the cellar beneath the block of flats she lived in. This was what she had been doing all last night before that troublesome vampire had showed up. She looked scornfully at the two hunters she had chained to the wall.

"Jaeger isn't it? And Keira." neither of them looked surprised at her knowing their names, indeed they had both worked with her in the past.

"Is this some kind of joke?" demanded Jaeger

"No," replied Skarlya absentmindedly, "I came across you two in the company of a couple of vampires, I had no need to kill them yet, the price on their heads wasn't big enough, but you two, that's a different story."

"Power play," whispered keira in disbelief, "you're putting us out of action so we don't kill any of the vampires which you could get a high price for."

Skarlya clapped her hands, "well done, now if you'd be so kind, I have more important business to attend to."

With that Skarlya turned and swept out of the room, turning the key firmly in the lock as she went.
Adam sat on the bonnet of her friend Jimmy's car, sharing a tourist with him. She was in a good mood tonight, so the fat boy's arm was only shredded up to the elbow. On bad nights the whole body would be a dark red pulp by now.

The blood was nearly all gone, and the boy was nearly dead. His heart was pounding hard enough to make his Tshirt twitch, attempting to force the remainder around his empty veins. Almost without her wishing it, Adam's hand found a sharp shard of metal and crept over to the infuriating movement. Jimmy grabbed her wrist.

"Christ's sake, don't," he growled. "You really don't have to multilate everyone, you know. You really don't."

Adam snarled petulantly.

"It's not cool, not funny, it's plain dumb. You know hunters are thick as flies in this city. You know-"

"Alright, shut up already," Adam snapped, withdrawing her hand. "Why'd you always go on about this? What are you, my mom? You're too damn scared of hunters."

"You're not scared enough of them," Jimmy retorted, and was about to go into depth when a stake exploded through his chest, splattering Adam with gore. She suddenly decided, as a rose of flame blossomed from behind him and swallowed him up, that he'd been right about the hunters.

Jimmy's ash settled quietly onto the scorched car bonnet, and Adam stared at the hunter who'd destroyed him so effortlessly. With her black hair, exotic face, leather coat and almost expressionless black eyes, she looked more like people's mental vampires that Adam did.

If Adam's heart wasn't dead, it would have hammered out one long beat before she reacted.

With a dismayed curse, she rolled off the car and was off, running with the speed of panic down a narrow, dark sidestreet. The hunter took off much less than a second later and pounded after her. Not for the first time Adam wished she had some of the supernatural speed all literary vampires seemed to be graced with; but she did have much better night vision than the hunter, and she used it to her best advantage, taking lefts and rights almost at random as she sought to lose her pursuer.

It wasn't working. Adam could almost feel the bite of the stake and the burning caress of the flames.

A blackened iron manhole cover beckoned the safety of the sewers. She put on a burst of desperate speed, tore the round cover up, threw it at the hunter to gain a precious second, and slid blindly into the dark. Quick as thought she was flattened against the slimy brick wall, ankle deep in murky water, watching the hole in case the hunter felt like following her down.

Nothing.

Calling down bitter curses on all hunters, Adam slipped away into the rank darkness.
Rayna:
The wind blew fog and smoke into Rayna's face as she ran barefoot through the pebbled streets. Laughing, she headed towards the park. The night was still fresh and she felt ready for fun.
The park was almost pitch black, except for the occasional street lamp every 20 or so feet. Suddenly a knife was at her throat.
"Finally caught up, did you?" she grinned and whipped around, throwing the man back. She had been tracing his thoughts and heartbeat for the past mile.
"Shut up vamp, and prepare to die." he growled, sabor ready.
"Boy, aren't we anxious?" she teased, still smiling.
"You're sick." he replied, as if she were asking him to kill her.
"Actually, I'm just human. But that's ok." she threw him a charming smile and flipped her hair behind her shoulders. "And if you don't mind, I was following a whole mess of vampires in here somewhere, and you just broke my concentration." Rayna whipped out a stake and flashed it to him to show that she was indeed a hunter. He looked at her, still in disbelief. "Do you want me to swallow some garlic and holy water to prove it?" she half-joked.
"Stop joking." he replied gruffly.
"Come on, I gotta go now or more people are gonna die and I'm gonna blame it on you!" Rayna pleaded, still half-joking.
His eyes searched hers for lies. Rayna went into his mind steathily, and searched his memories for recent vampiric ones.
Ah! Only a few moments ago he was slaughtering a pair of vampy foes. He was well-trained, and very cunning. Rayna smiled. "You'd make a formidable opponent." Her voice then dropped to a growl, "For a vampire. So, go find some."
Just then a shocking memory popped into her head. A young boy, blonde hair, scared, heart pounding, running from someone, sister dead, mother's face white and body drained of blood, father's screams for someone to save him echoing through the house. Basement. Safety...running. Finally, the echo of the little boy's heartbeat pounding through the silence of her mind.
Rayna realized that she had fallen on her knees, and was clutching her hair as if to pull it out. The man was staring at her, amazed and almost scared. Another image popped into her head. 3 vampires, 2 hunters...not too far off. Their heartbeats all beating at different paces. She echoed into the younger male vampire's head, "If they die, you'll suffer." That would be enough to shock him into reality. To the bigger male vampire, "Hand them over." He would probably think it was one of the other vampires, but that was honestly ok. She just had to get to them. Stashing her bag behind a tree, Rayna threw her heels off into the distance and ran full speed toward the heartbeats.
There, she pulled out a stake and aimed it at the younger male vampire's back, where his heart would be if she stuck it deep enough into him.
But she couldn't, she was grabbed by callused hands and pulled away. "I wouldn't suggest killing him, sweetheart." a deep voice whispered.
"Devon?!" Rayna whispered, pulling away and lowering her arm.
"Can't even go out for a drink without running into someone, can I?" he half-smiled.
"Ahh, so we have two more guests?" A voice came from behind. It was the male vampire that Rayna had almost killed.
Raivyn:
As I walk the streets of this city I feel the presence of a very powerful vampire. Somewhere close by. As I am thinking this I hear a scream and I run to see what is happening. Maybe I can be some sort of help. I am running as fast as I can. The closer I get to the scream the stronger the feeling gets that the scream was from another vampire. I come upon them and I see a man with his hand on a very pretty vampires shoulder. I pause, the look from her eyes is that of someone who knows the person that is touching her but it was a surprise. And maybe not welcomed or maybe it is and she was just too shocked to show it. I will just watch and see what happens. If it is possible maybe I have now found a vampire who can help me. To have a place and a family.

Name: Danielle, sometimes called Dani, is the 'pet' of the coven; much
revered and very beloved by all of them. They just can't help it. There's
something about her that draws all of them to her, for various reasons.

Sex: Female

Race: Human

Age: 22

Appearance: Ethereal, White blonde hair (curly, hip length), silver eyes, pale
skin, 5', slender to the point of being too thin, small, delicate bones, often
mistaken for a vampire because of her paleness and the way she moves

Weapon of Choice: None; does not fight

Character History: Danielle was spared when her entire family was slaughtered
by vampires. She was only 6 months old but even then, the Adele, who led a team of the good vamps to Danielle, sensed something
special about the child. She and her coven had watched over Danielle's family
for centuries because they were psychics, witches and warlocks; bound to the
same world that the vampires were. The gifted family never took sides, but they
often aided the good vampires when they needed help, casting spells of
protection, invisibility, etc, to shield the vampires until the danger had
passed. That is, until Adele finally found a safe haven for the vampires. At
that time, the Queen and her followers watched over the family line, but for
many, many generations there had been no more 'gifted' ones; not until, that
is, Dani came along. The first night Danielle was born, Adele came to visit the
mother and newborn. She stood over the crib, almost brought to her knees by the
awesome power that she could fell emanating from Danielle. From that night
forward, Queen Adele set a continuous watch over Dani, until the night that her
younest and most inexperienced 'watcher' was overtaken and overcome by evil
vampires who had been 'tipped off' about Dani and what she could mean for their
side…the dark side. The Queen Adele sensed danger but they didn't get there in time to
save Danielle's family; only Danielle herself.
Adele does more than just adopt the baby. She keeps her in the dark from
ever knowing what she is capable of and, though it seems cruel, interferes with
negative mind twists of negative self-worth on a regular basis to keep Danielle
under control; to keep her from ever blossoming and discovering what she can
do. No one, save Adele, knows these things. They all know Dani has some
powers, but none know the extent of them. And Adele intends to keep it that
way. She killed all the evil vampires by herself the same night that they
slaughtered the family so that none would ever know the truth but her. It is
too dangerous to anyone to know, especially Danielle herself. Adele has
good reason for her actions.
Danielle has all the gifts of a witch as well as a seer. Her powers are
incredibly immense and awesome. She can call forth the very elements with a
flick of her wrist. She can track the mind of vampire and human alike from the
other side of the world; she can even talk to those who have passed over as
easily as you and I might speak one to another; she can conjure things out of
thin air; she can create entire kingdoms if she so desires. All this Adele
saw on the day that she visited the child, but she had the family cast a
permanent 'masking spell' over Dani, muting her
visible' emanations of power so that no one else would ever sense them. A spell
that would only end at Dani's death. The only other who knew was the one who had
followed Adele and come after, sneaking like a dog in the night. He was the
evil leader and he went home and told his closest followers....they hatched a
plot to steal the child; and tried to follow through on it when they found the
weakest link (the night they killed the watcher.) That is why no else ever
knew. The spell was cast the night Adele visited and took enough time to
take effect (overnight, for most spells, unfortunately) that the evil one, too,
sensed Dani's power before it was 'masked'. Now he and his followers are dead,
and NO one knows and NO one, save Adele, ever will. Unless somehow the
spell is broken. Though the others know not why Adele protects Dani, they
know that, in serving Adele, it is their duty to protect her. Only Adele knows the truth. If the spell were ever broken; if somehow it could be;
and the hunters captured her, there wouldn't be a safe place on earth for a
vampire to hide.
And if Danielle were ever to turn against them, or to realize the true depth of
her powers, she would be a force as unstoppable as death itself.
It is in Adele's best interests to keep Dani forever in the dark about what
she is capable of doing.
Danielle has lived with the Vampires her entire life. It is all she knows.
Sometimes she grows lonely for humans like herself; until she meets Kyle, aka
'The Cowboy'. He is so like her in that he would rather be a lover than a
fighter, and yet, they are different, and it is the differences that they find
fascinating about each other. Since she lives the same hours as the vampires
and has all her life, Kyle takes Danielle under his wing. Sometimes he sneaks
her out to the clubs and the countryside, other times they sit in the living
room, staying up all night talking. He reveals himself to her as he never has
another living soul…not even Claudette. They are the best and closest of
friends, and eventually gain the nickname 'Mutt and Jeff' because they are
always together whenever possible. Even when Kyle does something he shouldn't
have, Dani flies to his rescue and battles fiercely for his honor. It is the
only time that any of them sees her as other than calm and composed.
Dani and Kyle are in love with each other but neither can ever tell the other.
They both know that such a relationship is forbidden to the other and so, they
remain best friends, gazing at each other with tortured glances when they think
that the other is not looking.
Is there a way for them to ever be together? Will Dani remain safe with the
coven or will the spell be broken? If that should come to pass, will she be
captured? And if so, by whom? Should she ever discover her true power, Danielle
and whoever holds her will win the war once and for all. Who will win the battle
of…The Hunted?

Danielle chewed unconsciously on her already ragged fingernails as she watched the latest episode of "The X Files". She flipped her pale blonde braid over her right shoulder as she slid out of the easy chair and unto her stomach on the rug. Propping her chin up with slender fingers, she smiled as the scene progressed. It was really quite laughable. Where on earth did they come up with their ideas for vampires? And werewolves?

She squinted her eyes, imagining Kyle coming face to face with such a silly creature. From all appearances, they were really quite uncoordinated. The movies depicting them pitting themselves against vampires were utterly ridiculous. Even if they did exist, any fledgling would make short work of them. Vampires were just too fast to catch.

As the vampires shuffled towards the FBI agents, Danielle giggled. Puleeeze. At the rate the vampires were moving, they wouldn't reach the agents until dawn. And then where would they be?

She guessed that it was necessary in order for the agents to 'win' but everyone knew that a real vampire would have gutted them and bled them dry ten times over by now. Maybe that's why the humans on the outside never saw it coming.

"Dani", what in heaven's name are you watching now?" Adele scolded as she came into the room. "God knows we have a bad enough reputation; we don't need to be reminded of it in our own household."

Danielle jumped guiltily. She sighed. Why was it that whenever she was breaking the rules, Adele always managed to be there to catch her? It was really all so unfair.

"Jesus, Adele." A deep voice teased her. "Are you trying to take all of Dani's toys away from her? Leave my girl alone, woman!"

Danielle squealed, jumping to her feet. "Kyle!" she cried laughingly as she ran to him and flung herself fearlessly into his arms. He chuckled, flinging her over his neck like a designer scarf and turned, heading toward the door.

"Just where do you think that you two are going?" Adele called out, watching them with teasing eyes.

Kyle grinned, the dimple deepening in his cheek. "Why, I'm off to corrupt the wench." He responded.

Adele sighed, shaking her head. "You two are completely hopeless."

Kyle just laughed and Dani giggled, looking up at him.

As he strode out the door, Dani dangling off of his neck like a broken necklace, she asked "Where are we going tonight?" She shrieked with laughter as Kyle tickled her unprotected stomach."Stop it, dammit!"

"Wait til we get outside." His voice teased back, fading in the distance as they left the room. "I'll tell you when we get outside. Adele would kill me if she found out. And what do you think you're doing using words like dammit?"

Adele shook her head, watching them go. It was kind of sad, really, the two of them together. Nothing could ever come of it.

She'd make sure of that.
The crisp night air hit Kyle square in the face as he came out the side door and set Dani on her feet. She gave him a giggle, grinning up him as she pushed her long pale hair out of her face. Kyle couldn't help but smile back.

That was strange in itself. Dani was the only person he ever smiled with. He didn't understand it exactly. There was something about her that had him confused; with himself as well as his feelings.

It was also odd that his height wasn't average around her. He dwarfed her. She barely reached his shoulder. She was petite...delicate. She made him feel masculine, protective.

He didn't know what to think of that feeling. Why should he feel protective of her? It wasn't as if she was more than his friend...his confidant.

He felt guitly now that he'd called her his girl in front of Adele. He didn't want to run into a bad standing with the leader of the coven that currently protected him. Plus, he had a feeling if he continued to do it, Dani would begin to think it was true. He knew there was no future for them. He was a vampire, cursed to live eternity drinking the blood of humans, and she was a human. And besides that, she was practically Adele's daughter.

Deep down Kyle knew he had to stop this. He was older than Dani...much older. He knew there was no future, so he should cut off their contact before it could get out of hand. He knew he should. But he couldn't bring himself to do it. Everytime he started to tell her, she looked up at him with those huge silver eyes of hers and his chest would tighten. He couldn't make himself leave her. Even if he knew it would be best for Dani.

"So," she breathed, beaming up at him. "What are we doing?"

Shrugging, he took her hand and let her toward the back gate. He punched in the code and pulled her through, waiting until it closed completely before he started walking again. "I just thought you'd like to get out of the house for a while." he glanced down at her. "Since it's not raining I thought we'd go for a walk."

"Oh, that was so thoughtful of you," she replied, snuggling up to his side, wrapping her free arm around his. "I love when we walk together."

The smell of her hit him as she got close. As he had a millions times in her presence, he had to push aside the urge to drink from her. Of course, he could make her forget, but he would know. He had to control the urge, or he would have walk away from the coven and never turn back.

"Why are you being so quiet?" she whispered, looking up at him with concern in her eyes.

Kyle's whole body tightened. The urge doubled and he suddenly wished he had fed again before coming back to the house to get her.

"I didn't think we needed words," he replied.

She stopped walking, her hold on him pulling him to a halt. She looked up at him with the penetrating look she gave him sometimes. A pale hand came up to his cheek. "I totally agree," she said.

Then she startled the hell out of him. She reached up with both hands and pulled his head down. Her lips were warm and moist against his. His blood raced through his veins.

He wanted to pull away. He wanted to bite her. He wanted so many things. He pulled back and put his lips on her neck, his breath rasping in his throat.

Dani was breathing heavy too. "Are you going to bite me, Kyle?" she whispered.

Oh god... He wanted to. "I don't want to hurt you," he told her truthfully.

She wrapped her arms around his waist. "I trust you, Kyle," she told him.

But I don't, he thought. He opened his mouth and rested his fangs against her delicate skin. He could feel her blood pumping under his tongue.

He closed his eyes and swallowed hard. He wouldn't do this. He pulled back and kissed her forehead. "Maybe when I know you're ready to face what it is like," he whispered. "I don't think that's tonight." He smiled into her flushed face. "Let's just walk."
Rayna:
Her heart caught in her throat. "Oh double shit..." she thought, and slowly backed away. Unfortunately, it was right into Devon. "Shh, don't move." He whispered into her ear, as if the vampire was some sort of poisonous snake. Which, in a way, he was.
"Well, I guess we're going to have to do something about our guests, won't we?" said the vampire. "We have to be polite!"
"Oh no, I'm so sorry. I thought you were my brother David! Heh heh, well, I'll be going..." Rayna tried to slip away, but Devon had a firm grip on her arm.
"I wouldn't try anything stupid, sweetheart. We may look outnumbered but we can take 'em." he whispered, flashing a knife quickly.
"Brilliant...bloody brilliant..." she muttered, and turned back to face the vampires and vampiress.
"Hello, my name's Rayna. I'll be your slayer today." she grinned provocatively.
I decide that she does not need my help and I turn around. And yet again I am still alone. I will keep looking. There has to be more vampires in this city. All I want is to me others who are like me and will except me. There is quite a bit of activity around here. I think I will go to a club not to far from where I am. It is called the Lamia. I have heard people talk about it being an interesting club. Hopefully that means that there will be vampires there who are feeding in the dark alleys and I can finally meet some that aren't going to push me away. For being a vamp I am not very liked by any others. Someday, maybe??????????????

I have enjoyed this campfire, but I believe that after only two additions in the last go round it is time to call it quits. I hoped you have enjoyed it as much as I. Maybe sometime soon I will create another campfire that you are all welcome to join. Happy Writing!

The End!
