Love through distant words
Words

Handwritten colors, black or blue,
Spoken whispers, me to you
Letters typed, words appear
Carried far, brought so near.

Words we share from deep inside
Feelings that we dare not hide
Touching you from where I stand
A prelude to a gentle hand.

Words we use to see inside
Times of truth, times we lied
Still we speak, with words unsure
Of love that in the end, endures.

But silence shouts its own refrain
Its messages so unrestrained
A world where nothing need be said
Where feelings meld our hearts instead.

And darkness opens eyes as well
The images our minds can tell
The beauty that we need not see
That binds us tight but sets us free.

And touch we need not always share
Although our bodies burn when bare
Our love in bed embraces tight
The bed we share in love's dark night.

I speak in words, but love won't wait
It rests inside us both, like fate
We speak the words we need not share
To let the other know we care.
