about a girl who left her home and mother behind on earth.
Meri Lin, stared longingly out the tinted window of her father's cottage on the new planet, K'tor. They had left Earth when an alien race invaded the Milky Way galaxy and were forced to leave her sick, dying mother behind. Life had been harder since then and it showed no signs of relenting. She was stuck in a place with no comforting sights.

Not long after they came to K'tor (a year later) when she was 6, her father met a woman, her step-mom. Her name was, Jerina Loku. The woman had as much kindness in her as the devil himself, and had an air of suspiciousness around her. Meri, would bet that her father couldn't see that. He couldn't even see the hurt he caused his daughter. At that moment tears poured down her cheeks and a deep sadness enveloped her.

It was snowing outside as it always did, covering the ice-apple orchard in thick, gleaming powder; and the greenhouses were opaque with condensation. Meri, looked to the right of the orchard where their barn was and was surprised with the sight that met her eyes. Jerina, was grooming a large white horse and talking to another man with short black hair that stood out against all the white. She seemed to be laughing at some joke he told, and then he leaned down and kissed her right on the mouth.

Anger boiled in her blood and she clenched her fists. She watched as Jerina, tossed her fire red hair. This woman was betraying her father right under his nose and was so sure she would not be caught. 'Well,' Meri thought, 'she won't do this to him.' Wiping away her tears she ran to the door, wrapped herself in her white furs, and stepped outside.

Cold air bit at her lungs as if some living creature was inside, and snowflakes settled in her hair. The pair were still at the barn when she made her way over. Jerina, looked up to see her angry figure standing beside them.

"What are you doing here?!" Jerina, dropped what she was doing.

"Stopping you from hurting MY father." she replied with an acid tone.

"Silly girl. How would I be hurting your dad and MY husband? And why would I do that?!" she gave the man a glance.

"I saw you from the window Jerina. He kissed you and you did NOTHING!!" she felt her face flush.

"Zordin didn't kiss me. You must be imagining things. And besides," Jerina paused and smirked, "who would your father believe; his loyal wife, or a jealous little brat like you?"

Meri, was about ready to punch her when her father called out to Jerina.

"You got to get ready!" he waved.

"Yes darling." she looked at Meri, giving her a warning glance and smiled at the man called Zordin.

She left for the house, leaving the horse and Zordin, with Meri. That night there was to be a ball of sorts to celebrate the anniversary of the discovery of their galaxy, Majesta 9.

She turned to face him. He had grey eyes and stocky build; he'd be able to take her out in a second.

"Don't say nutin' you hear! Me and Jerina, are gonna come after you otherwise." his expression seemed to be full of malice and power.

"We'll see about that." she took the horse's lead rope and led it farther into the barn. When she looked back the man was leaving. The horse touched her with his muzzle and whinnied.

"Hello Rondeleii. Feel like going for a ride?"
she smiled as the big horse stamped the ground.

Rondeleii was the family horse that was bought a couple years back. She was usually the one to take care of him and ride him.

"Good. I wanna see Simon." Meri said, referring to her only friend.

Her and Simon had been friends since they first met. At one point he and proposed to her but her father said they were too young, considering they were 7. Now they were both 16 yrs old and it was hard to see him more than a friend. Meri Lin left the horse standing for a few moments while she went and got a saddle and bridle from a small room adjacent to Rondeleii's stall.
