Darkness

Swept me off my feet
Beckoned me
Seductively
Made promises it could not keep-
Promises it would not keep
Still I let it consume
Me
Basked in its
Warmth
Suddenly the comfort was gone
The coldness
Seeped through
The moon was
No longer
A friend
I ran-
Ran far away
But still it calls to me
Threatens to sweep me
Off my feet,
Makes promises
I know it will not keep
I forget the danger
And go back-
Thinking the moon is my friend
I long to feel the warmth
I see it beckoning-again
Seductively
Sweeps me off my feet
Darkness-
Once Again
