A poem about a difficult time and the hope I have.
Darkness surrounds me.
As walls close in on all sides,
Breaking, tearing, taking
Me away from my love. So I hide
My heart away. I’m alone.
No one hears my cry.

But then a tranquil light shines down;
And I know that He’s still here,
Collecting the tears of my soul.

My love no longer answers me.
No voice calls out
In the night. So I wonder
If he even hears as I shout
And fight to no avail.
No one answers.

But then I hear a dulcet whisper;
And I know that He’s still here,
Collecting the tears of my soul

Rejection stabs at me.
My love is not returned,
But given to another.
Pain smothers me, for I yield not.
Stagnant is the prison air.
Numbness claims me.

But then a gentle breeze blows in;
And I know that He’s still here,
Collecting the tears of my soul.
