SAVIN' FORTY DOLLARS!
** Image ID #878107 Unavailable **
Now times are hard in Hectorville
an' I try to save when I can -
The truckin' fee was beyond me,
so I worked out this great plan!

I borrowed Aunt Liz's car,
A fine one with lots of power;
I could go pick up my lumber
an' be back home in half an hour!

Down to the lumber yard I went,
an' much to my surprise -
Insulation board was on sale too,
"Load it up!" I told the guys!

They took a look at Aunt Liz's car
An' scratched their heads a bit;
they tied it on the best they could
while havin' a laughin' fit!

The load on back was a bit heavy,
The weight sank the whole rear down,
An' the front tires, I swear,
Were six inches off the ground!

I drove real slow an' made it home,
found it pretty easy to unload -
It slid right off onto the grass
right in front of my old abode!

Aunt Liz took a look at her car
as I drove it back in her yard,
It didn't look the worse for wear
an' she was lookin' good and hard!

She fusses about springs and things
that just don't work right any more,
an' she asked me for forty dollars
to take the dent out of her door!

I was savin' forty dollars an'
I thought that was really good,
but in the end delivery is best
when it comes to haulin' wood.

Sometimes family don't understand
money doesn't grow on trees,
With a little ingenuity an' plannin'
you can save on all the fees!

Aunt Liz got my forty dollars
an' I won't be askin' her agin
to use her car for haulin' wood -
Not in the shape it's now in!
