My poem tells a little about how a Poet might feel when composing a piece of verse.
I am like an animal trapped

in a jungle filled with words.

They encircle me, taunt me,

daring me to strike in my effort to

capture the most perfect example.

Within me is a gnawing hunger,

to pounce, devour and exhale

the breath of my fruition.

But I must devise a plan of action.

The word must be perfect, the timing exact--

I must be sure that my prey will

still the ache in my bulging gut.

Swollen with emotions,

         Visions - of love,
                   lust,
                             beauty
         Dreams -of love,
                   hope,
                             fulfillment
         Memories

Yearning to be expelled.

Finally, my plan is laid, my trap is set.

The door bangs shut and it is mine!

Now I feverishly prepare my most exotic

creation to be shared with those who will

most enjoy.

And I am once again satiated.
