I love this story!

The title caught my eye and while reading I could relate to the rebuilding and renewing the life of this treasured old bike. Having spent many hours in the family Bicycle Shop from my childhood to my teens, I witnessed my Dad, brother and their helper (2 of them in different time periods) work their magic much as the Dad here did. As in the story, there was much love in the process and pride in the finished product. On Christmas Eve our family would have supper in the back of the shop (off the town square) around a pot-bellied stove while waiting for 'Santa' to pick up the bikes/trikes/wagons for his trip to youngsters that had dreams of their desires 'dancing in their heads'! This was an exciting time and a great family tradition.
Thanks for the memory!

I saw no grammar or spelling errors and the story was well written, easy to read and understand. It gave me a nostalgic feeling thinking of my Dad who rebuilt a nice little red bike for me one Christmas. Well done!

Hi Rich, I enjoyed your poem very much. We have a little Beagle so I can relate. I often wonder what they're trying to say when they bark at seemingly nothing. But they're worth it. smile
The only critique I have for your poem is the rhyming is a little off. It starts off well in the first two verses then sorta rambles without any rhyming order for the rest of the 'story'. Very interesting read though. Keep on writing!!!

Dear Bobby,
Thank you for your prayers. Your words posted here 12/31/04 are uplifting and appreciated. There are so many times in our lives that we have a fleeting thought or feeling that maybe we are "useless". Perhaps it is because of something someone has said or rather "not" said. We all need an occasional word of encouragement and appreciation. I am grateful for you and all my friends here on this site. I hope to become a more active member this year. God bless and my prayers go out to you all. Love in writing, Mar
