Narrator: Martha & Mary were sisters. Their family was good friends with Jesus. Their brother, Lazarus, got really sick, so they sent for Jesus who was traveling with His disciples.

Jesus: This will bring glory to God. We’ll wait here a few days, then go see Lazarus.

Disciples: But they tried to kill you in that town!

Jesus: Lazarus is sleeping. I need to go wake him up.

Narrator: The disciples thought Jesus meant Lazarus was sleeping, but He really meant that he was dead. Four days later they arrived at Lazarus’ house.

(Martha, Mary & mourners are crying loudly.)

Martha: (grabbing Jesus) If you had been here sooner, my brother wouldn’t have died!

Jesus: Your brother will come back to life. I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live forever, even if his body dies. Do you believe this?

Martha: I believe you are the Christ, the Son of God.

(Mary comes over and falls weeping at Jesus’ feet.)

Mary:(crying) If you had been here sooner, my brother wouldn’t have died!

Jesus: Show me where you put him.

Martha: But he stinks by now. He’s been dead four days! (She points to the tomb, a sheet over chairs, with a folded chair as the stone)

Jesus: Don’t you remember what I told you? If you believe, you’ll see the glory of God! Roll away the stone. (some mourners move the chair from in front of the tomb)

Jesus: (looking up to heaven) God, you always hear me- answer my prayer so that people will believe You sent me. (He raises His hands toward the tomb)

Jesus:(shouting) Lazarus, come out!

(Lazarus comes out, wrapped in toilet paper)

Jesus: Unwrap him!

(Mourners unwrap him. Lazarus waves to the crowd.)

Lazarus: Hi, guys! What’s happening?

(The crowd starts cheering and clapping.)
