Eulogy for an earthbound angel
April 27, 1918 – April 9, 2001

Dear Nana,

I know you're very busy catching up with Opa and your Dad and your Mom and brothers, and everyone who was there to greet you, but I knew you'd want to hear that we're going to be fine.

"You done good", Nan.

You took care of us and you made sure we'd be ok.

Your example of quiet strength, graceful endurance, and gentle good humor will carry us through our own challenges.

You taught us to love the gifts life offers and to revel in the blessings of our family.

You let each of us know we were special and loved, and you were always so proud of us ~ even though sometimes we weren't very deserving.

We're going to miss hearing your voice with our ears, but it will forever resound in our hearts.

We know you'll always be with us when we need you.

So give Opa a hug and kiss for me, then go for a swim and have a bonfire ~ and take a shot at figure skating while you're at it.

I could never say goodbye to you.

See you later.

Some people in our lives are like angels;
their very presence makes our world a safer place.
