White a la Seuss

Some live in fine houses; some, down by the docks.
And some live in trailers with grandfather clocks.
They drive their white cars, or white vans, or
white trucks,
And when they get angry, they just say "Aw,
shucks!"

They go to McDonalds for french fries and coke,
And if it's not WalMart, it's just a bad joke.
White sheets on the bed when they kneel down
to pray
A little white litany, day after day.

Then off to a pretty, white church twice a week,
To quote the good book, trying hard to be meek.
The difficult topics they know they won't find;
How well they have learned, "out of sight, out
of mind."

And beer on a Sunday? No, no! That's a crime.
White liquor on Monday, though, any old time!
It helps fight your battles throughout the
whole week.
What more, after all, can God's chosen folk seek?

A little white lie is all right, now and then.
It fends off the dark side of "who, what,
and when."
Excuses are fine when convenient, you know.
They help one stay pure, just as white
as the snow.

Their lily-white fences are easy to build,
Especially when they have needs to be filled.
Fend off the outsiders, don't let them come near.
For then they will think we have nothing to fear.

So white is just white, and the colors, so what?
The white reflects everything, all else is naught.
The world, with its dangers, can go straight to
hell,
As long as the white of the world can stay well.

My friends, heed a warning, for black is just
black.
Absorbing all color, no white it gives back.
At least it is honest, no fraud and no guile;
No "just for a moment, just now, for a while."

The color of justice? It's white, some would say.
Perhaps you can find a more colorful way.
So pull up your socks, let your mind the world
see,
That one day some color may set us all free!
