Road of Lonliness

I walk down the bleak road of loneliness
I have walked the road my whole life
The only signs on the road
tell of the pain and suffering to come
This road is turning my heart hard and cold
so that when this road forks toward happiness
I will not care for I will no longer see happiness in anything
It will take someone loving and bold
to break the hold of the road
to soften and warm my heart once again
to keep the road from yet again playing its cruel tricks
Is there such a someone
Will that someone ever come
I can only wish and hope
but soon that too shall be gone
On this bleak road of loneliness
