a memory of what was or might have been
Batten Down the Hatches Lads the Captain is Singing His Song.

The eastern wind blowed full our sagging sails
And blowed us west to the Nipponese
Where the sun rose up dripping red
Rose up from the bloody sea.

The winds blowed up purple and fast
Blue lightning flashed
And the lightning splashed
Blue on the bloody sea.

We heard from afar the Siren's song
And high on her waves we flew
And quick at last she wreacked us fast
On the shores of the Nipponese.

I woke alone with broken bones
Upon that distant shore
And the sun rose high in the redding sky
And shed her warmth on me.

The sun moved west across the sky
Casting her shadows long
Then the dark stole in with pirate stealth
As the dark will often do.

I woke again with morning's light
The Siren hovering over me
Hovered as might a bird in flight
While singing her Siren song.

She brought me fresh water
In her portable vessel
And poured it from
Her mouth to mine.

And the foods she chewed is passed to me
Like the water, kissed from her mouth to mine
And helpless I lay there with mouth open wide
Like a baby bird hungry for food.

Her hands soft tender gentle caressing
Nursed me and healed all my wounds
And hand in hand my heart beating faster
We wandered her Nipponese lands.

In the quiet of night I lay close beside her
Whispering to her of my love
She listened quiet breathing sighing singing
And she sings to me of her Siren's song.

I sang the song my Siren song
That brought you here to me
And you must be obeying the Siren's song
And it is you must be loving me.

Later on a mountain's top high
We stood above rocks and the sea
I love you my Captain she breathed to me
My lover a love, a love that cannot be.

And like a bird she soared
From the mountain's top high, high up into the sky
But Alas! Alas! She could fly no more
Because of her love for me.

From on high I heard her song of love
As she sang her song her Siren's song
And onto the rocks below she fell
And she bounced dead, dead into the sea.

So the years passed by
And so did I sailing the lonesome seas
And singing foerver my Siren song
To call her back to me.

So Batten Down the Hatches Lads the Captain is Singing His Song.

EPILOGUE

So the Captain he sang his Siren song loud across the sea
And the stars grew bright and the sea turned white
And up from the ocean's deep
Rose the song the Siren's song and it sang across the sea.

The Captain whispers "She has come for me."
And tears hot crying he leapt into the sea.
Now hand in hand hearts together
They haunt the Nipponese lands.

Forever Perhaps Maybe.

So batten down the hatches lads the Captain has finished his song.

For Kazuko Tsuruma she who taught me many things so long ago and still today she haunts my dreams.
