Note: The three prompters at Daily Flash Fiction happen to be a fairy, a dragon and a captain. To create the following, I used info. from their sites.

Last week, three friends got together to discuss their writing. Not your ordinary gathering, this was a mystical group consisting of a captain, a fairy, and a dragon.

The captain was the first to speak. “I'm pleased that I’ve been having colossal luck with my ideas lately. Why, not long ago I wrote a piece about ‘couture.’ True, it’s tailor-made to suit me, but isn’t writing first and foremost for the writer?”

Tallara, the fairy, nodded agreement. Her green eyes flashed as she created a rhyme:
“About success: I know the feeling.
Recently I wrote of ‘Pain and Healing.’
Quite cathartic, quite appealing.”

The dragon, Tehanu, was next to speak. “Ah, that sounds rich, like chocolate. I enjoy ‘Chocolatey Goodness,’ particularly when ‘My Eyes are Closed’!”

“Well, ‘Just Ask the Captain’ about ‘Chocolate,’ rejoined the captain. “I love ‘Chocolate’ as much as I love dragons!”

“Why thank you, Captain,” said Tehanu, flattered. “That’s wonderful to hear any time, but especially at ‘Five in the Afternoon.’”

Tallara sighed, so pleased was she that the three of them had gotten together on this summer’s eve. “Oh, it’s great to be here. I feel as if I’m ‘Home at Last.’”

The captain agreed, then spoke of another of her loves, the sea. She was to leave to build a new type of ship.

Tehanu’s nostrils flared in appreciation, remembering something her dear friend, Antoine de Saint Exupery, had once said. She shared this quote with her friends.

“‘If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.’”

Again Tallara sighed. “It seems that success in writing and ship building share a common thread: yearning.”

The three smiled, content with their musings.
