The dangers coupled with out technological advances
Falling in love with a computer screen,
Yearning for the empty Xs, so
Small, so pathetic, yet so easy to
Redefine into romance, into hope.
2d emotions litter the hard drive as
eyes, blind to the reality of life,
rove for a kindly slot of superficiality
in a world embroidered on lies.

Flashes spark attention, briefly
Pondering the use of CAPS before
Returning to the easy world of unseen
Truths and blatant affairs,
Hidden under a guise of download highs
And sample sharing.

Wrists ache and eyes burn
Yet mouths itch forward, nature
Overruled by low self esteem and
Plugged desires for untouched intimacy
With pixel strangers.

Slowly at first, then quicker,
The flesh of substance seeps life
From within the soul, escaping the
Fake Neon pain

Safely in unconnected regions
Hailed barbaric,

It finds refuge.
