About the numbness of love lost, love leaving and leaving love
The morning fog
Seeps into my mind,
Dense opaqueness
Blotting out all clarity,
All sense of perspicuity.
I stumble along, putting
One foot in front of the other,
One foot in my mouth;
Feeling no sense of risk or danger,
Feeling not a single thing at all.
Ignorance may be bliss to some,
But I care not as to whether
I trip and fall, or whether
I am here at all.
For what use is knowledge
Without feeling or the senses?
And on this particular morn
Ere I embark to distant shores,
I look back, try to recall
That outline of your lovely face,
But
My heart is dead,
Eyes cried out,
Unable to conjure up
That one single image
I once so cherished.
