It's laughable when one looks at how love makes a fool of one
Oh how divine,
How wondrously delicious
And infinitely sweet it is,
To receive the love of a lady
Whom one loves,
Whom one has admired,
From afar and for awhile.

Oh ‘tis folly
Sheer and utter madness
To love with such abandon!
To suffer the deepest of hurt,
From the slightest of wounds;
To soar above the clouds, walk on air,
On just the merest hint of affection;
To plunge into the bleakest of moods,
From the most trivial of trifles;
To feel like a king of all the world,
Crowned by naught more than
A certain glance or gesture
From no one else but her.

At the end,
When the curtains finally fall
And the audience empties from the stalls,
When all the passion is but spent,
All the words are said and deeds are done,
Wrongs are righted, debts repaid,
When it’s all really over –
What will be remembered then?
A fool in life,
Or a king in love?
