I was born in a small town in southern Ohio. At that time and place "Trick or Treat" night was called "Beggars Night" and took place on the evening before Halloween because nobody with good sense would be caught out after dark on All Hallows Eve. Halloween night all sorts of spooky things came out and roamed around town looking for a tasty Christian child to corrupt or devour. Lucky me, I was born on Beggar's night and was safe in my cradle the next night when the ghouls were on the prowl. I have told you all this in hopes that you will believe me when I say, contrary to popular belief, I was not born on Halloween and I am not a witch.
