Summary of this Book...
This is a memoir about Jacqueline Kennedy's years in the White House. It is written by the chief secret service agent assigned to protect her. His name is Clint Hill.

It is respectful and informative, without being the least bit gossipy. It is the most positive and real thing I've ever read about the Kennedys.

Clint Hill is one of the bravest souls who ever drew breath. He is the agent who in the midst of the horror of November 22, 1963, jumped on the back of the Presidential limo (against the President's explicit orders) and more than likely saved Mrs. Kennedy's life.

She was a heroic person (to me) and so is he, although he tortures himself over not being fast enough to save the President. No one could be that fast, even sitting in the car. But Clint Hill did everything he could and anyone who has seen the Zapruder film knows that for a fact.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who is curious about Jacqueline Kennedy's years in the White House and doesn't want the smutty made up version. She was quite a wonderful lady.
I especially liked...
the observations about the Kennedys and their children although the stuff about John at the end broke my heart. The little boy who loved helicopters was so tragic.
I didn't like...
how hard Mr. Hill is on himself. He wishes he could change what no one could change except for that monster, Oswald.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
learn more about these years of my childhood and what they were like, without all the gossipy crap that goes with President Kennedy.
This Book made me feel...
like I had a real glimpse of Mrs. Kennedy and her charm and accomplishments.
The author of this Book...
along with his co-writer really has written a book to be proud of.
I recommend this Book because...
if you want to learn a lot about the Kennedy administration from someone who was really there and not just someone looking to make moola off of a bunch of dead people, then this is your book. Every President should have a secret service detail as dedicated to their job and the truth as Mr. Hill.
