Summary of this Book...
This book brings the reader into Agatha Christie's mind and world. She shares her childhood, and adulthood in a friendly and relaxing manner. In between excerps of her stages of life are woven friends, places, and how she enjoys traveling. I was drawn to this book to learn about how she wrote her stories and wasn't disappointed. As I got to know her on a personal level, I also learned how she produced her many novels, short stories, plays, and other writing. Emotion and action show her life in word pictures she wrote as her personality shows and she shares the world with the reader.
This type of Book is good for...
Readers who enjoy getting to know people, their world, friends and family, and how this writer enjoyed living.
I especially liked...
The information about how she started writing. How, where, and when she would write her stories. What kept her writing during challenges.
I didn't like...
This is not so much a didn't like, but more of a sometimes there were places in her story that seemed top move slowly.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Write, read, and think. These are the things that help me create stories. If she could write, so could I.
This Book made me feel...
Encouraged by her story I felt on the right track. Life is precious and she treated it with great respect. I am enjoying life and felt a kindred spirit with her.
The n/a of this Book...
The beginning of this book for me seemed slow and something to skip over, but I kept reading because I believed this foundation would build upon the rest of her story. I am glad I read the book from beginning to end.
I recommend this Book because...
There were some funny parts, insights into writing, meeting someone new through her words, and enjoying her lifelong journey.
I don't recommend this Book because...
A reader looking for action may find going through her words chapter by chapter a boring adventure, but if they are more interested in knowing her and following her this could be an interesting adventure more like casual sightseeing.
Further Comments...
I now want to read some of her novels and other works. I hope to find more information about her writing techniques. This book has over 500 pages of insight into her world.
