The effects of war on the mind. The hypocrisy of human behavior. Yossarian and his comrades in the Army Air Corps have to survive the war, but how?

Heller's style is incredibly unique. His storytelling is quite revolutionary. He tells the same story from different angles. Small details show up later, and the full story doesn't completely come to full circle until the very end. Some critics have called deja vu storytelling.



This story made me laugh out loud quite a few times. There is a shift towards the end that is much more sobering, but it really goes well for Heller.



Yossarian is a likable character even if he does seem like an ass sometimes. Heller has great characterization. All of the people in this book are truly unique and really come to life.

Heller was in the Army Air Corps during World War II. This book made quite a stir when it first came out because the way the war is portrayed.

Have you ever been in the military? Let me tell you. This is for you! Have you have ever worked for the government? You will really appreciate this. I'm so glad I read this after I had similar experiences. It gave the story a great personal angle.
