Summary of this Book...
The ongoing trudge towards the final battle as we learn more and more about our favorite characters and even more about those we don't know. I can' say this book is necessarily about much, as it doesn't really give us any new information. It just develops already complex plot lines and adds more depth to a very deep pool.
I especially liked...
Robert Jordan's writing style is still amazing. It really reaches out and grabs the reader's attention, even when reading a long, boring chapter. Without his pinache for the written word this book would have been a complete flop
I didn't like...
It's too much of what we already know. The last few books of this series have been drawn out and expansive on things that could do without expanzion. The reality that a reader's going to remember all of these minor characters and the almost useless development that this book offers when the end is near doesn't exist. It's a good 600 pages of filler and that isn't the kind of book most people enjoy reading
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Have been done with it. I was glad it was finally over, and very dissapointed that nothing was resolved. The finale is something we should have expected in the first 3 chapters of the book, and the only thing that had me wanting to read on was the grand scope of the tale. This book left no hook.
This Book made me feel...
Dissapointed and slightly angry. I could have done without purchasing this on the first day of its release. Don't get me wrong, I highly enjoy Robert Jordan, but this book is so little in terms of development and story that the money I spent on it seems like a waste. I can't see myself ever rereading it.
The author of this Book...
Robert Jordan as an author is an ever changing picture. 6 years ago, I would have said he was an amazing artist of the written word. Now I can only say that he is an amazing artist at drawing out the written word. He is still a great author, but he seems only to throw a lot of filler at the reader anymore.
I recommend this Book because...
If you are a true, honest fan of this series you'll be drawn to reading it no matter what, and all I can say is that if you haven't yet read it, wait and get the paperback or borrow it from the library, because you'll never read it again
I don't recommend this Book because...
It isn't that good. We lose none of what Robert Jordan's style made his words jump off the page, but we lose everything that made us love these characters. The only thing that kept me reading this book was the possibility that the next chapter would have a huge twist, and in the end nothing twisted. For casual readers just read the summary on a fan site somewhere and wait for book 11. We can only hope he gets back on track
