Summary of this Book...
This is a book about Seabiscuit, a great racehorse unrecognized early in life. It is a classic tale of equine rags to riches and the realization of an impossiblity. Seabiscuit was purchased as a worn-out horse, overraced and incorrectly handled, and one man recognized the spark in him which would lead him into history. It is a tale of human interconnection and characterization just as much as a story of one of the greatest racehorses that ever graced a track.
I especially liked...
I loved how Hillenbrand developed the characters and made them come to life for the reader. She wrote with truthfullness and sensitivity that cut to the bone.
I didn't like...
There isn't anything about this book that I didn't like!
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I was inspired to continue my research into thoroughbred racing and continue with my own novel.

This Book made me feel...
This book broke my heart and inspired me at the same time. The world of horseracing is a purgatory in which success can come in a day and a crushing blow in a photo finish.
The author of this Book...
Laura Hillenbrand published this as her first book and realized her own dream of creating a bestseller. Her research was thouough and exhaustive on the subject. I would read more of her books in a hoofbeat!
I recommend this Book because...
I recommend this book because it doesn't pull any punches in telling the true story of Seabiscuit. This book will leave the reader reeling from the action, the devastation, the anticipation, victories, and defeats.
I don't recommend this Book because...
How could I not recommend this book?
Further Comments...
Thoroughbred racing is a difficult world and a tough row to hoe for those who try to etch out a living for themselves. For some it is an exercise in futility; for others a challenge to beat the odds. It is frought with danger, deception, heartbreak...and victory. Most people only see the pinnacles. Seabiscuit tells all, giving the reader insight into the reality of a racetracker's life.
