Summary of this Book...
Harry Potter is having another ho-hum summer with the Dursley's. They have left him alone after he told Uncle Vernon that Sirius Black (from the previous book) was his godfather. Harry is invited to the Quidditch World Cup by the Weasley's and since it will get Harry out of his hair, Uncle Vernon allows him to stay the summer there. When he is at the World Cup, trouble ensues and people start getting killed. It gets scarier as the Dark Mark (the sign of Lord Voldemort) appears over the campsite. When things have calmed down, many fingers are pointed in several directions to who summoned the sign of Voldemort. Getting past this incident, Harry gets primed for his fourth year at Hogwarts. It is announced there is to be a special Triwizard Tournament to be held with two other schools. Three champions representing their school will be picked to compete. Harry cannot compete because he is not of age, so he must sit by and watch. One night at dinner, The Goblet of Fire chooses three names from the several that entered. The first name it draws is Viktor Krum from Durmstrang; Second, Fleur Delacour from Beaxbatons; finally, Cedric Diggory from Hufflepuff House is chosen as the Hogwarts champion. The goblet isn't finished as it suprisingly draws out a fourth name...Harry Potter.
I especially liked...
I like how JK gave Harry, Ron and Hermione an older point of view. They continue to mature and it shows as Ron finally gets jealous of Harry's success, and Hermione takes up a cause of making sure house elves are treated equally (which is sometimes amusing). I also liked the return of Sirius Black. He really is a likable character. Dobby's return into Harry's life is also a plus. I particulary liked the battle Harry faces near the end.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I am so excited that the fifth book comes out shortly. It hasn't taken me long to get the first four (being an English major has its bonuses).
This Book made me feel...
I always feel good when reading Harry Potter.
The author of this Book...
JK Rowling has pretty much gotten this down by now and she takes it a notch higher in this one.
I recommend this Book because...
It was very enjoyable.
Further Comments...
I thought I would have trouble getting through this, but I didn't. I have never gotten through a book this long (not even in college), so this was an accomplishment for me. It stayed interesting, so that kept me going. Harry Potter is always likeable, as well as the rest of the supporting cast. The ending is dark compared to the other three books. Still, that shows Rowling is versitile. Personally, I cannot wait for Order of the Phoenix and see what lies in store This book was really worth the time.
